Hasbro has entertained multiple generations with its line of toys and tabletop games. Properties like Transformers, G.I. Joe, and even Monopoly fall under the company’s umbrella. As is the case with a number of entertainment brands, Hasbro is entering the video game industry with its own AAA studio under Wizards of the Coast.

Currently called the New Raleigh-Durham Studio, it has put up several job listings for a “multi-platform, Action-Adventure video game set in the GI JOE Universe”. The studio is currently looking for an art director, lead animator, lead game designer, and a technical director for what appears to be a third-person action adventure game (thanks, PCGamer).

There’s no other information about the project, and considering that Wizards of the Coast is still building the team, it’s unlikely we’ll hear anything soon. Snake Eyes seems to be the most popular G.I. Joe at the moment, so perhaps it could be a game based on him. The ninja recently got his own movie and also made an appearance in Fortnite.

The last game based on the IP to come out was G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout. It was a third-person hero-shooter featuring iconic characters with PvP and co-op elements. It launched last year for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and Series X|S but was unfortunately met with a lukewarm reception.

It seems Hasbro is using multiple avenues to try and make a footing into the gaming industry. Renowned Fortnite dataminer, Hypex, recently came across some assets from the Monopoly board game in the battle royale’s source codes. The decrypted assets included classic Monopoly avatars like Scottie Dog, the Top Hat, the Race Car, and even newer ones like the T-Rex and the Penguin.

While they were not clear about the nature of the collaboration, or if it was a collaboration at all, these will most likely be some kind of cosmetics or collectibles scattered around the map. The leak suggests we’ll find out more in Chapter 2 of Season 8.

Elsewhere, the Pokemon Company has announced Pokemon: Trading Card Game Live, a new, digital version of the game for PC, Mac and mobile devices. It will be the successor to the current Pokemon TCG Online.
