A group of data miners have successfully accessed VALORANT’s website, leaking an upcoming article detailing a new Agent’s abilities.

Some fans are worried for the future of VALORANT after the abilities of an unreleased agent – named Killjoy – were preemptively revealed. An unpublished article, which has since been completely wiped from the website, contained major information about what type of trouble Killjoy will be getting up to next week.

From the look of things, Killjoy will be joining Cypher and Sage in the role of Sentinel, a type of Agent that specializes in locking down areas and preventing enemies from taking bombsites. Their abilities seem to be very defensive and require some time to set up, but once they’re ready, be careful.

The above Tweet features all of Killjoy’s leaked abilities. The first, Alarmbot, seems to be a more defensive version of Raze’s Boom Bot. Killjoy places a small, crablike robot on the floor, which appears to turn invisible after a few seconds. When an enemy walks into the bot’s radius (and presumably within line of sight), the Alarmbot activates. It runs toward the enemy, exploding and debuffing them. This debuff acts similarly to Viper’s updated Snake Bite, causing them to take double damage from all sources for a brief period.

Killjoy’s next ability, simply titled Turret, is as simple to understand as its name. Killjoy places a turret on the ground which automatically fires at enemies in its 180 degree cone of vision. It fires in three round bursts, and doesn’t seem to deal too much damage. The Turret can be picked up, but it is unclear if this is Killjoy’s signature ability. It could theoretically work similarly to Cypher’s Spycam, having a longer cooldown if it is destroyed rather than picked up.

Next on the list is Nanoswarm, a throwable grenade that seemingly becomes invisible after landing. The Nanoswarm can then be remotely activated, releasing a storm of deadly robots that eat away at enemies. It acts similarly to other molotov-like abilities in the game, but the remote detonation aspect is interesting and unique. Being able to set up an invisible molotov, when paired with a Sage slow, could easily devastate an entire team.

Killjoy’s ultimate ability, called Lockdown, is arguably their most confusing ability. Killjoy places a small pillar on the ground (that looks suspiciously like a Spike), which creates a large circle on the map. There isn’t a lot of information about what Lockdown really does, but apparently enemies are unable to leave this area. After a long charge time, about eight seconds, the device has a second activation phase, dramatically slowing all enemies within its radius for an extended period of time.

Normally, all leaks should be taken with a grain of salt. However, there are two factors that give a lot of legitimacy to this one. The footage shown of abilities is incredibly convincing and professional. It doesn’t look altered in any way, and fits in with the rest of VALORANT’s aesthetics. However, what drives home the legitimacy of this leak is a recent tweet from VALORANT’s official Twitter account. The designs of the images in this tweet are identical to the abilities shown off in the leak, practically confirming that these abilities are final.

Some fans, particularly those who play at high ranks in competitive, are understandably upset at the new Agent. Based on the video, Alarmbot can lead to an insane amount of damage. We don’t know if this bot can be destroyed, or how much health the Sage in the clip has, but this bot could have a base damage of 50 or 60, which would allow a Classic to kill in one shot to the chest on pistol rounds.

Nanoswarm only takes two seconds to obliterate Sova, meaning it could do 50-75 dps. Combining these two abilities could lead to absurd amounts of burst damage. While Turret doesn’t seem like it does a lot of damage on its own, setting up a crossfire with only one Agent on a site is very powerful and should not be underestimated.

Killjoy is theorized to release at the same time as Act II, potentially on August 4 or 5. In response to the backlash, Riot could make some changes to Killjoy before the agent launches.
