Pixar has a long history of bringing home awards at the Oscars. In fact, the film studio has won 15 Academy Awards in categories including Best Original Song, Best Sound Editing, Best Original Score, and of course, Best Animated Feature.

Best Animated Feature was introduced during the 74th Academy Awards in 2001 due to the increased numbers of animated films that were entering theaters every year. While Shrek walked home with the inaugural award, it was only a couple of years before Pixar began to dominate. Today, Pixar is the studio with the highest number of Best Animated Feature awards.

Because Toy Story 4 is up for the award yet again at the upcoming Oscars ceremony on Feb. 24, we thought it was time to look at every Pixar film that has won Best Picture so far. It’s time to dive into things and applaud animation’s best.

9 Finding Nemo

Though Monsters, Inc. was nominated for Best Animated Feature in 2001, Finding Nemo was the first Pixar film to actually win the coveted title in 2003.

Finding Nemo tells the tale of a neurotic clownfish who must face the dangers of the ocean floor after his son, Nemo, gets kidnapped by a diver. He completes his journey with a little help from a blue tang with short-term memory loss, Dory.

The adventure film was additionally nominated for Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score, and Best Sound Editing.

8 The Incredibles

Pixar kept up its high-quality animations, thereby earning the Best Animated Film award a year later for 2004’s The Incredibles.

The Incredibles follows the mom, dad, and kids of a superhero family, who are forced to conceal their powers in an alternate version of the ’60s. However, after Mr. Incredible gets a job offer that has him fighting a robot on a secret island, he jumps at the chance to get back into hero work.

The movie additionally scored the Best Sound Editing accolade.

7 Ratatouille

Though Cars lost the Best Animated Feature title in 2007, Ratatouille had all the ingredients it needed for the award the following year.

This comedy tells of a garbage boy, Linguini, who becomes the owner of a famous restaurant in Paris after it is revealed that he is the illegitimate son of the late chef Gusteau. Though he can’t cook, he gets a little help from a rat who dreams of becoming a popular chef despite being criticized by his colony.

The film was nominated for Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score, Best Sound Editing, and Best Sound Mixing in addition to winning Best Animated Feature.

6 Wall-E

Wall-E launched into theaters in 2008, quickly gaining critical acclaim.

The sci-fi animation tells of a little robot, Wall-E, who has been left on Earth to clean up the mess humans have made. After robot Eve visits from the futuristic Axiom starship and discovers a plant on the planet, Wall-E is soon pulled into an adventure to save all of humanity.

Controversially, Wall-E was absent from the big Best Picture category. That being said, it was nominated in six other categories, bringing home one: Best Animated Feature.

5 Up

Unlike Wall-E, Up did manage to gain entrance into the list of Best Picture nominees. The comedy-adventure tells of the aging Carl Fredricksen, who hopes to fulfill his and his late wife’s dream of visiting Paradise Falls in South Africa.

In addition to winning Best Animated Feature, Up also flew away with Best Original Score. Though he hopes to take a peaceful journey there by sending his house into the sky with helium balloons, he soon discovers a young Wilderness Explorer who was on his porch at takeoff. This is just the beginning of the crazy events that turn his adventure wild.

4 Toy Story 3

Though the first two Toy Story films were created before the Best Animated Feature category had been introduced to the Academy Awards, the third movie had a shot at the Oscar, having been released in 2010.

This time around, Andy’s toys are accidentally donated to Sunnyside Daycare. Though the gang is at first excited at the prospect of being played with again, having spent lots of time collecting dust as Andy grew older, their hopes are snuffed out by the evil schemed of a revenge-driven teddy bear.

The film won Best Original Song for “We Belong Together” as well as Best Animated Feature.

3 Brave

Yes, Cars’ 2011 sequel also failed to win Best Animated Feature. However, in 2012, Brave helped continue Pixar’s long legacy of hits.

The fantasy follows the skilled archer princess Merida, who hopes to defy the custom of arranged marriage in her Scottish kingdom. However, after accidentally enlisting the help of a witch and accidentally turning her mother into a bear, Merida must help restore the queen to her original form before it’s too late.

Brave’s single Academy Award nomination and win came in the Best Animated Feature category.

2 Inside Out

Pixar decided to dive into the psychology of emotions in this 2015 comedy-adventure.

Inside Out focuses on Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger: the five little characters who live inside 11-year-old Riley’s mind. After Riley has trouble adjusting to her new San Francisco home, it is up to the emotions to get her back on track.

Though the film didn’t win Best Original Screenplay, it did score Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards.

1 Coco

The most recent Pixar film to win Best Animated Feature was 2017’s Coco.

This fantasy, based on the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead, tells the story of the titular boy who hopes to become a famous musician. Though Coco’s family has banned music, he might just get the opportunity to make his dreams come true after falling into the Land of the Dead and learning that his great-great-grandfather is actually his idol.

In addition to winning Best Animated Feature, Coco won Best Original Song for “Remember Me.”
