Pokemon fans in Pokemon Sword and Shield can change every article of clothing including their shoes, and every piece of clothing in the game can be Pokemon themed. In the real world, fans don’t have many options when looking for pokemon-themed footwear, but Adidas decided that shouldn’t be the case and has introduced a new line of sneakers titled the Pokemon x Adidas Advantage line. Overall this is the third shoe that Adidas has made with a Pokemon design.
The new sneakers will be different from the line that featured Dragon Ball as the focus. Rather than being character-themed they will feature a pixelated Pokemon on the side.
The Pokemon franchise has been around for more than twenty years starting off with the games Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue in the United States and Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green in Japan. Since the original games and the anime, Pokemon has become a household name and one of the biggest pop culture influences in the world. Adidas has been known to work with franchises like Pokemon and Dragon Ball to create shoes for fans to show their appreciation no matter what they are wearing.
The only character shoe currently announced for the Pokemon x Adidas run is Pikachu, arguably the most recognizable Pokemon in the entire brand. Previously for Detective Pikachu, Adidas released an Advantage featuring the starter Pokemon Squirtle. The Pikachu on the shoe shows off the Pokemon Fire Red and Pokemon Leaf Green pixelated sprite on the outside heel, and the inside features many of the original Kanto region Pokemon. This design paired with the simple white of the rest of the sneaker comes together as a very clean design that Pokemon fans, as well as sneaker fans, should be interested in once the release date is announced.
The new design should make a great shoe for a Pokemon fan that wants something more subtle to show their appreciation and a great addition to any sneaker enthusiast’s collection.
