In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there are certain items coded with a “luck” parameter that increases the Happy Home Academy (HHA) score. There are 16 known lucky items in the game, although this number is likely to increase with updates.

In previous Animal Crossing games, lucky items and feng shui affected a player’s luck in finding rare items or earning more bells. New Horizons also has lucky items, but the only known impact of said items is how they affect the HHA score. Each of the 16 lucky items add a x777 bonus per item to an HHA score when placed in a player’s house. Having two or more of the same lucky item won’t increase the bonus further, so no need to place duplicates.

3 Lucky Animal Crossing Gold Trophies

There are three lucky gold trophies in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The gold bug trophy is mailed to the player upon receiving 300 points in the Bug Off event. These events are held every 3rd Saturday during the summer months. Similar to the Gold Bug Trophy, the Gold Fish Trophy is mailed to the player after receiving 300 points in the Fishing Tournament event, which occurs on the 2nd Saturday of January, April, July, and October. The Gold HHA Trophy is mailed to a player after achieving an HHA score of 150,000 points or more by appropriately decorating a user’s home.

3 Lucky Animal Crossing Purchasable Items

Some of Animal Crossing: New Horizons’s lucky items must be bought. The in-game version of the New Horizons limited edition Nintendo Switch can show up in the “Special Goods” section under Nook Shopping, which can be accessed through the Nook Stop kiosk in the Resident Service building or via the Nook Shopping App. Players who purchased the limited edition Switch in real life can find the in-game version in their mailbox upon completing the tutorial. Another lucky item, the Kanji Tee top clothing item, can randomly appear in the Nook Shopping Special Goods, the Able Sisters shop, or it can be randomly gifted by a villager. The third lucky purchasable item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a Ring, can randomly show up for purchase in Nook’s Cranny.

1 Lucky Animal Crossing Gulliver-Exclusive Item

Upon helping Gulliver repair his broken communicator by digging up 5 rusted parts, he may send the player a Katana in the mail the following day.

2 Lucky Animal Crossing Fish

There are two lucky fish in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The black pop-eyed goldfish is a tiny shadow found in ponds. It’s available year-round from 9am to 4pm. Lucky Koi can also be fished out of a pond year-round between 4pm-9am. They have a large shadow.

6 Lucky Animal Crossing DIY Items

There are six different lucky craftable items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The Crescent-Moon Chair can be crafted after receiving its DIY from Celeste. It costs 7 Star Fragments and 1 Large Star Fragment to craft. Fragments can be obtained on the beach after wishing on stars the night before. The Gold Rose Wreath is a wall-mounted DIY can be obtained randomly from a crafting villager or a message in a bottle. It requires 10 gold roses to craft.

The DIY for the Golden Candlestick can be obtained from smug crafting villagers. It requires 2 Gold Nuggets, which can be found by hitting rocks. The Lucky Gold Cat is a DIY that can be obtained from a balloon, message bottle, or crafting villager. It requires 2 Gold Nuggets and a Lucky Cat, a Gulliver-exclusive item. Perhaps the most difficult item to craft, the DIY for the Robot Hero can be purchased with Nook Miles at the Nook Stop. It requires 1 Rocket, 1 Gold Armor, 30 Rusted Parts, 90 Iron Nuggets and 10 Gold Nuggets to make. Finally, the Wobbling Zipper Toy DIY is obtained from Zipper T. Bunny on Bunny Day if the player has crafted all items in the Bunny Day series. It requires 4 of each Bunny Day egg: Earth, Stone, Leaf, Sky, and Water.

Lucky Animal Crossing Villager Pictures

Not to be confused with villager posters, villager pictures are framed photos of a villager that they may gift after reaching a certain friendship level. Though there are only 16 lucky items, having different villager pictures in a home will give the lucky bonus per unique picture, so making lots of friends can significantly boost one’s HHA score in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
