A trailer for Detective Pikachu has dropped, giving us our first look at Nintendo’s collectible monsters rendered in all their slightly disconcerting CGI glory. Based on the 2016 Nintendo 3DS game of the same name, the film follows Ryme City resident, Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) and his new, unlikely partner, a one-of-a-kind talking Pikachu (Ryan Reynolds) who has aspirations to become the Sherlock Holmes of the Pokemon world.
While we don’t see anything close to all 802 Pokemon currently in existence in this 2 minute and 22 second-long trailer, Warner Brothers have managed to cram more of your favorite pocket monsters in than you might have realized. Let’s count ’em all!

DODRIO
Weirdly, this relatively obscure first generation Pokemon is the first one we get a clear glimpse of in the trailer. You can see the three-headed roadrunner walking into Ryme City in the opening shots. Dodrio is the fully evolved form of the bi-headed, Doduo.
CHARMANDER & JOLTIK
As one of the first generation’s starter Pokemon, this little flaming lizard needs almost no introduction. The first Pokemon in Charizard’s evolutionary line, Charmander has been the Fire-type of choice for some of the franchise’s most iconic trainers, like Ash, Red and Alain.
And, just behind Charmander, the fifth generation’s Bug/Electric-type Joltik appears to be scurrying into the shadows.
COMFEY
Is it a bird? Is it a Poke-plane? No, it’s a… flying wreath of flowers? This Fairy-type Pokemon is one of the newest monsters featured in the trailer, first appearing in the Alola region in Pokemon Sun and Moon. If you squint, you can see one flitting above Ryme City (to the left of Tim’s head) amongst some of the many, many bird-based ‘mons of the franchise.
WOOPER, VICTINI, PETILI & VANILITE
The faces of Wooper, Victini, Petili and what appears to be Vanilite are used as logos on a building in the opening shots of the city. As the only Mythical Pokemon in the trailer, Victini is the most noteworthy.

Mythical Pokemon are similar to Legendaries in their one-off-ness, but made distinct by being event-exclusives in the games. In the franchise’s mythology, they’re so rarely sighted they’re thought to be — yes, you’ve guessed it — mythical.
