All Pokemon GO Fest 2020 Day 1 Special Research Tasks and Rewards

Day One of Pokemon GO Fest 2020 has arrived, and players that purchase a Pokemon GO Fest ticket now have access to a brand new Special Research called GO Fest Welcome. This Special Research is made up of seven tasks that look to get fans involved in this year’s festivities, and players that complete them will earn themselves a myriad of items, encounters, and XP.

Before going into the details of the Pokemon GO Fest Day One Special Research, it is important to note that while ticket holders need not complete all of the tasks on July 25, they must play on that date in order to unlock them. Indeed, players that do not play at all on the first day of PoGO Fest 2020 will not get access to the GO Fest Welcome even if they have paid for a ticket.

Pokemon GO Fest 2020 Special Research Tasks and Rewards (Day 1)

  • Take a Snapshot of your buddy (10 Incense)
  • Use an Incense (200 Great Balls)
  • Catch 20 Fire-type Pokemon (Charizard encounter)
  • Catch 20 Water-type Pokemon (Blastoise encounter)
  • Catch 20 Grass-type Pokemon (Venusaur encounter)
  • Battle in 2 raids (Gible encounter)
  • Make a new friend (Snorlax encounter)

Rewards: 10,000 XP, 10,000 Stardust, 2 Lucky Eggs

Of these Pokemon GO Fest Special Research tasks, those that focus on catching Pokemon are certainly the most time-intensive. That said, Day One of the event does feature a rotating habitat schedule that increases the spawn rates of certain types of Pokemon at various times of the day. Players that are working on the Special Research should thus look for the Fire, Water, and Grass habitats on the GO Fest Day 1 habitat schedule and plan to to complete those tasks at the appropriate times.

Additionally, it is worth mentioning that fans that are trying to maintain social distance throughout GO Fest 2020 can use PoGO’s Remote Raid Pass to complete the raid-focused challenge from afar. In a similar vein, players can turn to community forums, such as the various Pokemon GO subreddits, to make new friends. This will allow fans to complete the entirety of the GO Fest Welcome Special Research without ever having to get too close to other participants.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
