Over the course of May, Pokemon GO’s Throwback Challenge 2020 has taken players to the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh regions, giving them the opportunity to complete a variety of Timed Research in order to earn some special rewards. Additionally, fans that completed all of this Timed Research unlocked the Throwback Challenge Champion Special Research, which is now available in some regions. For players that would like to know more about this Special Research, details on all of PoGO’s Throwback Challenge Champion 2020 tasks and rewards can be found below.

To note, the Throwback Challenge Champion tasks in Pokemon GO are proving to be quite time-consuming indeed, and at the time of writing players are still working through them. As such, this guide will be updated as more of the PoGO Throwback Challenge Champion Special Research tasks and rewards are confirmed, and fans are advised to check back in the upcoming days. Update: All tasks and rewards are now confirmed and in the list below.

Pokemon GO Throwback Champion Challenge 2020 Special Research Tasks And Rewards

Step 1

• Make 15 Great Throws (Galarian Meowth)
• Catch 15 Pokemon (1 Incense)
• Transfer 15 Pokemon (30 Ultra Balls)

Rewards: Gothita, 500 Stardust, 500 XP

Step 2

• Evolve 5 Pokemon (5 Rare Candy)
• Hatch 15 Eggs (Oshawott)
• Win 15 Raids (10 Max Revive)

Rewards: Darumaka, 500 Stardust, 500 XP

Step 3

• Make an Excellent Throw (30 Ultra Balls)
• Battle another Trainer 15 times (Tepig)
• Power up Pokemon 15 times (500 Stardust)

Rewards: Blitzle, 500 Stardust, 500 XP

Step 4

• Give your buddy 15 treats (1 Golden Razz Berry)
• Catch a Dragon-type Pokemon (Snivy)
• Take 15 snapshots (1 Silver Pinap Berry)

Rewards: Audino, 500 Stardust, 500 XP

Step 5

• Claim Reward (1 Charged TM)
• Claim Reward (Galarian Stunfisk)
• Claim Reward (1 Fast TM)

Rewards: Genesect, 5 Rare Candy, Professor Willow’s Glasses

It is worth mentioning, that players that did not complete all of the Timed Research from the other parts of the Throwback Challenge can still gain access to PoGO’s Throwback Champion Challenge Special Research. This is done by purchasing a Throwback Challenge 2020 Special Research ticket for $7.99, and players can find that in the in-game shop. That said, while the Special Research can be completed at any time once unlocked, players that wish to purchase a ticket should make sure to do so before Monday, June 8 at 1pm local time.

The Special Research is not the only thing for fans to enjoy during Pokemon GO’s Throwback Champion Challenge, though, as a handful of Galarian Pokemon will be making their debut in 7KM eggs. Furthermore, Pokemon from the Unova region will be appearing more often in the wild during this event, making the PoGO Throwback Champion Challenge 2020 the perfect opportunity for players to find Gen 5 Pokemon that may be missing from their Pokedex.
