In a normal year, game publications would be the ones handing out awards for their most anticipated games revealed at E3. But this is not a normal year. Rather than a week-long in-person event, E3 is a four-day digital-only presentation where game companies will show off their latest wares in rapid-fire succession, and at the end of it all, an official awards ceremony will select the event’s most anticipated upcoming games.

The ESA has appointed editors and journalists from IGN, PC Gamer, GameSpot, and GamesRadar+ to select the winners for each game publisher’s presentation. This will include an overall winner for E3 as well as awards specific to each individual publisher.

“For this year’s event, we are collaborating with editors at some of the world’s leading video game media outlets to create the Official E3 2021 Awards Show, recognizing the show’s most anticipated games,” said Stanley Pierre-Louis, president and CEO of the ESA. “The broadcast is going to be packed with exciting announcements and reveals, and celebrating innovative publishers and developers is an ideal way to close E3 2021.”

E3 will run from June 12 to June 15 as a four-day digital broadcast. Open registration starts June 3, with media, industry, and content creators able to register now at the E3 website. E3 will be presented by Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller, gaming personality Jacki Jing, and esports announcer Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez.

Plans for E3 are starting to take shape. Xbox and Bethesda have announced a joint presentation to take place on June 13, while presentations are expected from Square Enix, Sega, Bandai Namco, Nintendo, Warner Bros., Capcom, Take-Two, and many more.

And the game announcements won’t stop at E3. Summer Games Fest kicks off on June 10 with presentations and announcements from the biggest names in gaming all summer long.
