Gaming desks are a dime a dozen these days, but if you ask me, it can only be considered a “gaming” desk if it comes with a mat that covers the entire desktop. Otherwise, it’s just a desk, right? Throw some sort of RGB lighting component on it – literally anywhere – and you have yourself a certifiable gaming desk. The AndaSeat Eagle 2 fits the mold to a tee, providing a durable and comfortable starter gaming desk experience whether you’re streaming to the masses or playing on your own. And yes – it has RGB lighting.
When the desk arrived, I was surprised by the size of the box. It was much smaller than I expected it to be, but then I realized that the desk itself is a bit on the smaller side – making it a great solution as a starter gaming desk or if you just don’t have a ton of real estate for a larger one. The desktop comes in at 55 x 23 inches, and sits at a height of 29 inches, which is just a bit smaller than I’d prefer as a 6’2” individual. I have to adjust my chair a bit lower for my upper half to sit ergonomically at the desk, which means my legs end up positioned in a non-ergonomic position. This isn’t a huge deal depending on how long you actually spend at your desk, but taller people may need to look at other options.
Using the desk is as straightforward as you can get. Even though it runs on the smaller side, there’s plenty of room for a dual monitor setup, keyboard, mouse, and speakers. If your speakers are bigger, you’ll likely need to place them behind your monitors if you have a dual monitor setup. You’ll be losing a considerable amount of desk space if you want to store a PC tower on top of the desk, though if you do, the desk is more than durable enough to handle the load.
The desk mat that covers the entire desktop is easily the Eagle 2’s best feature. It rolls out easily and sits flush against every edge of the desk. The simple design is easy on the eyes, featuring an all-black background with a minimal orange circuit board design and AndaSeat logo. The bottom of the mat prevents slippage – it honestly takes a lot to make the entire mat move at all. More over, you’ll never have to worry about needing a mousepad, since the entire desk can be used as one.
Underneath the desk, you’ll find a headset hook on both sides, along with a cup holder that can be installed on either end of the desk depending on your preference. The features don’t end there, though.
The stand of the desk itself is a feature with RGB lights running down the outside of the legs. All you have to do is plug in the USB cable and you’re in business as the colors slowly change on the legs. It’s a very simple feature, but one that I found to enjoy more than I expected, mainly due to the simplicity and effectiveness that the lights offer in terms of their aesthetics.
If you’re just starting to build out your “ultimate streaming setup,” the Eagle 2 gaming desk is a great option. That said, at a price point of $400 (currently on sale for $369.00 at the time of writing), it doesn’t necessarily sit in the “budget gaming desk” range. However, with its durability, full desktop gaming mat, and RGB lighting, you won’t have to worry about regretting your purchase if you ultimately decide to pull the trigger on the Eagle 2.
