As the second month of Fall begins in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there are a variety of brand new bugs for you to collect on your island. Players looking to fill out their NookPhone’s Critterpedia should get searching for these creepy crawlies as quickly as possible, as many of them are scarce or rare, and you wouldn’t want to miss them once they’ve migrated away.

As usual, players in the Southern Hemisphere will have a different set of bugs to find on their islands than people in the Northern Hemisphere. This month, those who reside in the Southern Hemisphere are in for more of a treat than the northerners with a whopping ten new bugs, compared to the Northern Hemisphere’s lonely one.

Northern Hemisphere

Ladybug

The ladybug is the only new bug coming to the Northern Hemisphere in October and will be leaving at the end of the month, before eventually returning in the spring. The ladybug is of common rarity and is valued at 200 bells, but can be sold for 300 to Flick. It can be found on flowers between the hours of 8am and 5pm.

Southern Hemisphere

Common Bluebottle

The common bluebottle is a — you guessed it — common bug. It’s valued at 300 bells when sold at Nook’s Cranny and 450 bells when sold to Flick. It is a black and teal butterfly that can be found around flowers between 4am and 7pm and will be available to catch until the end of February.

Agrias Butterfly

Another butterfly, the agrias butterfly is scarce and sells for a whopping 3000 bells, or 4500 bells if sold to Flick, making it one of the most valuable bugs in the game. This bug is purple and pink in appearance and will be available through March, from 8am to 5pm on sunny days.

Rajah Brooke’s Birdwing

This rare butterfly can be found flying around flowers during the hours of 8am to 5pm. It is black with green-spotted triangular wings and sells for 2500 bells, or 3750 if sold to Flick. Rajah Brooke’s birdwing will remain available through the winter and into March.

Atlas Moth

The brown and orange atlas moth is a rare moth, valued at 3000 bells at Nook’s Cranny or 4500 bells when sold to Flick. It can be found on trees of any sort between the hours of 7pm to 4am, and will remain available until the end of March.

Madagascan Sunset Moth

Found flying near flowers between 8am and 4pm, this green, black, and orange moth is rare and sells for 2500 bells, but selling it to Flick will net you 3750. This camouflaged moth will remain available until the end of March, at which point it will become available up north.

Long Locust

The long locust is fairly common, selling for just 200 bells at Nook’s Cranny and 300 bells to Flick. This green locust can be found between 8am and 7pm on the ground and will stick around through May before it migrates north.

Darner Dragonfly

Another fairly common bug, this dragonfly can be found between now and April 30. It’s valued at 230 bells, but selling one to Flick will net you 345. This bug is green, black, and blue, and can be found hanging around water between 8am and 5pm.

Giant Water Bug

This bug may be common, but it sells for a pretty high price. Found floating near water, they can be annoying to nab, but it’s worth the hassle when you remember that they can be sold for 2000 or 3000 bells, at Nook’s Cranny or to Flick, respectively. This nocturnal guy can be found between 7pm and 8am and will head north at the end of March. They can be found during rain.

Jewel Beetle

The rare jewel beetle will be available to catch until the end of February. It is green with red stripes and can be found on tree stumps at all hours of the day. At Nook’s Cranny, it sells for 2400 bells, while Flick will buy it from you for 3600.

Flea

This tiny critter can be found at any time of the day, though they are scarce. Fleas can be found on villagers and sold for the very low price of 70 bells to Nook’s Cranny, or 105 bells to Flick. They can be found during rainy days and will be around until the beginning of summer.
