Animal Crossing: New Horizons has toilets that you can actually use to go number two. No, really.

New Horizons came out on March 20th, and since we’re still in the middle of a coronavirus quarantine, now is the perfect time for a bit of lighthearted social gaming. Players are visiting everyone else’s islands and having delightful conversations with anthropomorphized animals.

They’re also discovering that you can take a realistic dump in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Toilets have always existed in Animal Crossing games, but in previous titles, they were merely decorations that you’d add to give your abode some semblance of normalcy. Who’s ever heard of a home without a toilet? But in New Horizons, toilets now have a functional purpose for the first time.

There are two ways to interact with a toilet in New Horizons. First, you can just sit on it like you’re some toddler that’s still trying to figure out the primary function of a toilet. Or, if you have eaten some fruit, you can actually use the toilet to reduce your overall fullness. Just like in real life.

Hilariously, the game mentions, “And that takes care of that,” just as soon as you’re done taking care of business. And while this obviously implies that the player character has dropped some kids off at the pool, the player is not subsequently required to wash their hands.

That’s a pretty unhygienic message to be sending kids during a pandemic, Nintendo. Maybe you’ll want to patch handwashing in?

Animal Crossing: New Horizons does seem to have a strange fascination with poop. There’s even a hat that you can wear that very closely resembles a poop emoji. It’s called the “soft serve” hat, but come on–that’s clearly a pile of manure you’re wearing on your head, and everybody knows it.

We’ll be adding this to an ongoing list of games that feature excrement, including PewDiePie’s mobile hit Poopdie, Pigeon Simulator, Ark: Survival Evolved, and The Sims.
