Concerned with the education of their villagers, a creative Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan has built a sprawling school for their islanders to attend. Many fans eager for new content were disappointed with the absence of Animal Crossing news during the Nintendo Direct at E3 2021. However, Nintendo of America’s President has recently assured fans that there are still many exciting additions on the way for the game in the future.

New Horizons was released for the Nintendo Switch in March 2020, its success undoubtedly bolstered by the beginning of lockdowns across the globe due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the title has gone on to become Nintendo’s second best-selling Switch title, having sold over 32 million copies in just a year. Despite its success, the game has yet to receive any major updates aside from a handful of small events, which has frustrated many players, and birthed countless memes.

It seems the lack of major announcements for Animal Crossing has yet to dampen some fans’ creativity, with Reddit user giaw99 creating an impressive school for their villagers to attend. In their video tour of the school, giaw99 shows off the grounds, which are surrounded with iron and hedge fences paired together. The classroom is accessible via a set of stone steps, which also lead into a locker area for students to conveniently store their belongings before heading into class. Upon entering the schoolroom, players are met with an amazingly accurate recreation; stationery sits half used upon the desks, and stacks of books decorate the shelves, making players feel as if a class was recently dismissed before the tour began.

The tour of the school grounds continues on past its locker room, with giaw99 showing off the cafeteria, which looks out onto the ocean. Lastly, the tour ends at the school’s soccer field, which thoughtfully offers seating for spectators, a blackboard keeping the current team’s score, and most importantly, a water cooler to keep the students hydrated. While many creative builds in Animal Crossing are often achieved with the use of its custom design tools, giaw99’s school seems to mostly rely on existing in-game items, with only the school’s exterior windows and the soccer field’s fencing employing the use of a custom design. As a result, the impressive school took giaw99 around 4 weeks to create, due to the large amount of shelving and materials required.

Thanks to the seemingly unending creativity of Animal Crossing players, the game has continued to be the canvas for countless amazing scenes. For giaw99’s islanders, the new school will no doubt provide an excellent way to pass the time and enrich their minds while they wait for new content updates to arrive. Nintendo has previously reassured fans that it will continue to support the game for up to three years after launch, and while many fans have found the updates thus far to be far from satisfactory, hopefully the game’s second year will provide fans with what they sorely desire.
