If you haven’t yet completely fallen into the rabbit hole that is the Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War alternate reality game, you soon will. We have been watching the official site for Black Ops: Cold War diligently since it went live on Friday, eagerly awaiting the location of the next bunker, and boy were we in for a surprise.
Back in May, gamers found that a shack near the prison held what was—at the time—a cool little Easter egg that called back Black Ops 1. Inside of the shack, we saw an RC-XD car that was a killstreak in the old game. Most of us looked at it, reminisced about the good old days, maybe speculated that it meant something more, and moved on. Today, however, we learned that this shack was more than just an Easter egg. It’s essential to solving some of the puzzles that will (hopefully) reveal more about the upcoming Call of Duty.
We have been in touch with YouTuber PrestigeIsKey who directed us to “TheLadlings” who—in turn—have been first into the bunker for the last three days. The past two days, the VCR on pawn takes pawn has flashed the coordinates for the bunkers fairly quickly, but today was different. Today, the coordinates took nearly 15 minutes before they showed. They are as follows: WZ(Warzone)-H8-72948531. H8 refers to a grid of the Warzone map where you will find the shack, and the digits are the keypad combination that you will need to get into the bunker.
Of course, now there are 3 videotapes that you need to watch. Each tape seems to update “versions” every day, and the numbers that flash within those tapes change as well. So far, it seems that we have the numbers, 08-37-15-25-60-48-63-11-19-06-25-07-50-02-25-54. That list is not exhaustive and may not be in order, but they have been recorded over the last 2 days. As of yet, nobody knows what those numbers correspond to, but there are ideas. The leading theory is that we will have to wait until this portion of the alternate reality game ends, which will be on Wednesday. Until then, we will all have to piece together the bits and pieces of information that we have so far to see if we can make any sense of it.
