This past weekend of the Overwatch League hero pools saw some exciting play with Echo finally making her debut. Chaos ensued as the new character brought her crazy kit into play, leaving fans wanting to see more. The good news is Echo didn’t get chosen to be out of rotation for week 14 despite the majority of teams utilizing her this past weekend. Instead, Reinhardt, Brigitte and Reaper will be out of rotation once more while Ashe will be unavailable for league play for the first time after seeing an uptick in playtime.

With McCree and Widowmaker out for week 13, Ashe was the go-to hitscan hero to try and deal with the Echo in the sky. Some players used Ashe’s kit to great effect, especially her dynamite. The slight changes made to Ashe recently have greatly improved her quality of life and it looks like Overwatch League teams are starting to realize that. It remains to be seen if Ashe will be favored over McCree or Widowmaker once all three are available at the same time, though.

Reaper joins the pool once more, but didn’t see as much playtime this weekend as he has seen before. Teams utilized him on Control maps with Mei as the other DPS hero in comps and the rush style proved to be a solid counter (on control at least) to the Echo-centric comps being played across the league. Seeing Reinhardt out of rotation is always a sad day and Brigitte ironically enables dive despite being introduced as the dive-counter character she always was so it remains unseen if dive will be effective with her absence.

Echo might see a lot of playtime once more this weekend especially with Mercy returning to the rotation. The mixture of healing and damage boosting makes Echo an even more formidable foe, but the McCree and Widowmaker coming back might just be the hard counter teams need to take her down. Who knows exactly what will be played this weekend, but it sure will be fun.
