The actor who voiced the English version of Ash Ketchum for the first eight seasons of the Pokemon anime wants to be a part of Netflix’s live-action series.

The Pokemon hype train has been running for 25 years at this point. However, it hasn’t been running faster or harder than it has been for the entirety of this year so far. The Pokemon Company has been celebrating the franchise turning 25 via new games, special songs, and by popping brand new Pokemon cards inside of McDonald’s Happy Meals.

The latest project announced took the form of a live-action Pokemon series coming to Netflix. Very little has been revealed about the show other than it’s happening and that it will likely be created in the same style as the incredibly successful Detective Pikachu. None of the show’s cast has been announced, but a certain someone from Pokemon’s past wants to be a part of it.

That certain someone is Veronica Taylor. Even the most hardened Pokemon fans might be reading this right now, wondering who Taylor is. Even if you don’t recognize her name, you’ll definitely be familiar with her voice. Taylor is the actor who voiced Ash Ketchum in the English version of the Pokemon anime for the first eight seasons of the show.

Variety broke the news about Netflix’s Pokemon show, to which Taylor replied with a quote tweet saying “I am available”. Taylor was replaced for season nine of the long-running Pokemon show and hasn’t been involved with the series since. It’s also unclear how exactly she will be involved with the live-action version of the show if Netflix is keen to bring her on board.

Ash might not even be a character in the show, and even if he is, Taylor might sound like the iconic Pokemon trainer but she doesn’t exactly fit the bill looks-wise. That doesn’t mean she can’t be a part of the show, of course. A neat idea posited by ScreenRant would be to have her make a cameo akin to Lynda Carter’s in Wonder Woman: 1984. It would be nothing more than part of the show for casual fans, but a cool easter egg for those who know who Taylor is and what she has contributed to the Pokemon franchise.
