Assassin’s Creed Valhalla A Guide To All Of The Best Spears

A major part of the gameplay in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the combat, and one of the weapons many players choose to wield is the spear, and they only use the best. It is a two-handed weapon, but it is capable of performing quick jabs at an opponent. The spear is the fastest in this class and it is a good in-between for those who want a more balanced weapon.

There several spears in the game, and not all are created equal. They each come with perks and varying stats that make some better than others. It is important to keep in mind that the stats will differ based on your skill tree and what you have chosen to unlock, but these can always be adjusted if you decide the spear is your weapon of choice!

Updated on May 30th, 2021 by Rebecca O’Neill: The Wrath of the Druids is the new DLC for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and with it comes two new Spears for players to use. They are called the Byzantine Spear and the Gae Bolg, and they will aid you in your mission to solve all of Ireland’s mysteries. However, these are not the only Spears that Ubisoft has added into the game.

There are three others that you can buy in the store or at Reda’s Shop, and they are exceptional. You should only wield the best when playing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but it can be hard to pick when there are so many to choose from.

Bannerman’s Spear

The Bannerman’s Spear can be bought in the store or at Reda’s Shop if you happen to look when it passes through. It has a unique design, but the high attack damage is why so many players choose to buy this weapon.

It even comes with a perk that increases your attack when you pair this weapon with a shield, which is something a lot of players choose to use.

Areadbhair

If you are looking at Reda’s Shop you might come across the Areadbhair Spear, otherwise, you will have to buy it from the store with Helix Credits. Its speed is fairly average, but between its perk and damage, there is no reason you won’t want to buy this weapon.

While it may not be the fastest spear, its perk increases speed after each hit, allowing you to win a fight in record time.

Stats

  • Attack: 117
  • Stun: 115
  • Speed: 55
  • Crit-Pre: 97

Byzantine Spear

While this Spear might not appear amazing at first, there is more than what meets the eye. It starts as a Superior Spear, meaning it has room to be upgraded, and it can be acquired during Wrath of the Druids at Azar’s Trading Store once Dublin reaches a Reputation Rank 4.

It is great for players who choose to use a lighter build as its perk increases critical chance the lighter you are. You can also use some runes to make yourself even lighter so you can do max damage with this weapon.

  • Stun: 94
  • Speed: 56
  • Crit-Pre: 93

Gae Bolg

The Gae Bolg has mythical properties as its perk makes lightning shock your opponent after three consecutive hits. It makes this Spear even more desirable as it not only looks cool but also has an amazing perk that connects to a more mythical landscape.

It can be acquired during Wrath of the Druids after you bring Deidre back Amber Shards, which means you must kill all ten of the Druid leaders.

Stats

  • Attack: 96
  • Stun: 109

Fafnir’s Fang

One of the first Lost Drengrs you will come across is a man named Erik Loyalskull in Rygajfylke, Norway. He is located in a cave at Hildesvini’s Crag, which is at the top of the waterfalls near where a woman wants you to find her comb.

Fafnir’s Fang might seem like a great weapon to have early on in the game, but this is a hard fight to win at a low level. However, it’s not impossible and those truly determined will be able to best him despite the odds.

Fafnir’s Fang is fairly balanced and its perk makes it perfect for the beginning of the game. It will increase your critical chance when surrounded by three or more enemies, and you will need all the help you can get at this low level.

Stats

  • Attack: 47
  • Stun: 39
  • Speed: 52
  • Crit-Pre: 78
  • Weight: 15

Fyrd Spear

The Fyrd Spear can be found in the southwest corner of Ledecestrescire, and it is very close to Ravensthorpe. It can be acquired at a place called Offchurch, but it won’t be unlocked until the questline where you are tasked with finding King Burgred’s hideout. You will just have to head down into the crypt and find your way to the furthest room in order to acquire this weapon.

It is a bit better than Fafnir’s Fang, although most choose to use this weapon because of its perk. It will increase your speed when dodging an attack, which is always useful when using a two-handed weapon.

Stats

  • Attack: 49
  • Stun: 64
  • Speed: 55
  • Crit-Pre: 76
  • Weight: 12

Cadfarch Spear

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla A Guide To All Of The Best Spears

Sciropescire is where the Cadfarch Spear can be found and it is given to Eivor following the completion of the main quest called Bloody Path to Peace. This is a bit further into the main story so you will have to wait to acquire this beauty, but Valhalla does make up for this fact by starting this spear at a superior level.

The perk is very useful as it increases the back damage you deal when dodging. The Cadfarch Spear is the perfect weapon to equip if you want to make an overpowered character as it is one of the best weapons in the game.

Stats

  • Attack: 54
  • Stun: 69
  • Speed: 56
  • Crit-Pre: 78
  • Weight: 12

Gungnir (Odin’s Spear)

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla A Guide To All Of The Best Spears

The Gungnir, also known as Odin’s Spear, is located in Hordafylke, Norway and it is a Mythical Spear. It is not available for use until you complete the entire main storyline and then you must take a side quest called A Brother’s Keeper. Once you have completed this, and A Quiet Homecoming, then you can fetch the spear from a cave near a location called Goinnhellir.

This spear is magical in every sense of the word as its perk enables it to extend its reach by using a force field. The spear always seems surrounded by a golden hue, which is what this perk puts to use. It is one of the final pieces to Thor’s Armor, which you can learn how to find by reading this guide.

Stats

  • Attack: 92
  • Stun: 101
  • Speed: 48
  • Crit-Pre: 94
  • Weight: 15

Svipul

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla A Guide To All Of The Best Spears

This spear cannot be found in the game and is one of the many microtransactions that players can make. It can be acquired by buying the Valkyrie Pack which will cost you 2,000 Helix Credits. This is equal to about $20 and it is probably worth it if you choose to use a spear as your main weapon. This pack also includes a full armor set, a shield, and a new mount, all of which can help you defeat legendary animals.

The perk associated with this spear is that it will increase back damage when at low health, but its look is why so many people choose to buy it. This weapon is beautiful as you twirl it around with flames following its path, and it is already at its highest tier which is just another attribute that makes players want to buy it.

Stats

  • Attack: 116
  • Stun: 124
  • Speed: 52
  • Crit-Pre: 101
  • Weight: 11

Anentaks Spear

The Anentaks Spear can be acquired in Vinland, but this is also the only location where it can be used. It will cost you two carbon ingots, 65 leather, and 105 iron ore if you want to buy it from the local trader, which is one of the many things you can do in this region.

Its stats are similar to that of Odin’s Spear so it is a shame you are not able to bring this back to England with you. The Anentaks Spear even has a perk that increases your heavy damage when dodging, so it is even more disappointing that you can’t use it all the time.

Stats

  • Attack: 93
  • Stun: 110
  • Speed: 52
  • Crit-Pre: 91
  • Weight: 13
