Astralis has removed Jakob “JUGi” Hansen from its active CS:GO roster, the Danish esports organization announced today. The team also revealed that 22-year-old former MAD Lions star Lucas “Bubzkji” Andersen would take his place on the lineup. Bubzkji has taken a spot on the active roster while Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander and Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth remain on medical leave.

Jakob “JUGi” Hansen has been playing under the Astralis name since May, after taking the place of long-time in-game leader Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander. Gla1ve began a three-month medical leave in May, and is currently expected to return to play sometime in August, according to teammate Nicolai “device” Reedtz. JUGi competed in two tournaments with the team, placing 7-8th at the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown and later 9-12th at DreamHack Masters Spring Europe.

JUGi joined the squad as a substitute along with former Heroic teammates Patrick “es3tag” Hansen and Marco “Snappi” Pfeiffer, the latter joining on loan from TIGER. Astralis is the first team at the top of the CS:GO scene to employ six- and seven-man rosters. Down to six members with the release of JUGi, former MAD Lions star Lucas “Bubzkji” Andersen will fill the seventh slot while Gla1ve and Xyp9x remain on medical leave.

Bubzkji rose up the CS:GO ranks while playing for MAD Lions, placing 3-4th at DreamHack Open Sevilla in his first event with the team. The Danish squad later reached the semi-finals of DreamHack Open Leipzig and ICE Challenge 2020 before winning the opening Flashpoint season over MIBR. The team reached a peak of 11th in the World Rankings.

Despite being considered MAD Lions’ star player, a June report suggested Bubzkji had been placed on the team’s bench. The team has not played since the report’s release, and Bubzkji’s status had not been confirmed until now. The rifler has been signed to Astralis on a two-year contract, though it is unclear if he will remain on the starting roster once Gla1ve and Xyp9x make their returns.

Astralis has been on break since early June, though the team is scheduled to begin a bootcamp next week. Astralis are next expected to compete in ESL One Cologne 2020 Europe, beginning on August 18th.
