Andrew Spencer from The Bachelorette addressed the idea of reuniting with Katie Thurston after her breakup with fiancé Blake Moynes. Andrew and Katie had a whirlwind romance on season 17 of the franchise while Katie was dating 30 other guys. Though she felt a strong connection with Andrew, Katie ultimately chose Blake as her mate in the season finale. Blake’s relationship with Katie was controversial among the other men because of his complicated history. He showed up on set mid-season and many of the other contestants were suspicious of his motives. Blake was initially on Clare Crawley’s season in 2020 before she abruptly left the show to get engaged to Dale Moss. The producers immediately replaced Clare with Tayshia Adams, who also dated Blake.
On Monday, Katie posted on her Instagram, explaining that she and Blake ended their engagement. She said she had respect for her now-ex-fiancé, but they had to part ways. She discussed her gratitude for the journey she has been on during the last year with him, but she ultimately shared that they weren’t a good match as partners. She also asked her fans to give her privacy during this time, as well as kindness and support.
After Katie’s breakup announcement, Andrew shared a meme on his Instagram story of the note he gave Katie after she broke up with him on the show. The note said, “If you change your mind ….” A fan finished the meme with, “Ima leave my door open …” The former Bachelorette contestant said the idea was funny, but he felt the story between Katie and him was over, though he wished her well.
Many on social media are speculating about the reasons for the breakup between former fiancés Katie and Blake. Unlike Andrew, Blake dated three Bachelorettes in total, which caused a lot of backlash for him online. When Blake joined Katie’s season, she was scared his addition would create a disruption among the group (which it did), but she couldn’t help her attraction to him, so she decided to give him a chance. After beating all the other contestants, including Andrew, Blake got down on one knee and proposed to Katie in the finale episode. The couple seemed happy, but they immediately faced a few challenges after the show ended. The biggest was the fact that Blake lives in Canada, while Katie, who filmed her season in New Mexico, currently lives in California. In the past, Katie mentioned the distance made things difficult.
Though Andrew expressed the door is closed on his relationship with Katie, he seems to have respect for her and her journey on The Bachelorette. Earlier this year, he came to the realization that the other guys were a better match for her. Perhaps, Andrew will find his soulmate on the next installment of Bachelor In Paradise.
