Back in DC Comics Final Crisis, Batman was believed to have been killed by the villain Darkseid and his Omega beams. However, the Dark Knight came back from the grave, taking on a new name and suit that gave him the powers of the Justice League. Known as the Insider, Bruce Wayne took on this new identity to observe all that he had missed, while still being able to fight crime without officially resuming the mantle of the Bat from Dick Grayson, who had taken on the cape and cowl in Bruce’s absence. Bruce Wayne’s new suit would prove to be incredibly powerful (though it wasn’t without its significant drawbacks).

Carrying many similarities to the Amazo android created by DC villain Professor Ivo, Batman’s Insider suit carried the capability to replicate several different abilities of the Justice League, making him quite a powerful vigilante the likes of which Gotham wasn’t quite used to. By taking on the Insider persona, Bruce Wayne was able to witness the current state of affairs with a greater freedom, desiring to catch up after having been gone for so long, as Darkseid’s beams didn’t actually kill Batman, merely sending him backward in time.

Upon returning to the 21st Century in Bruce Wayne: No Way Home, Bruce decided that it was time to try out his new suit as the Insider, using its many capabilities to great effect. The suit held a variety of functions including flight, a Speed Force mode to replicate the speed of the Flash, teleportation thanks to the suit’s connection to the Justice League Watchtower, invisibility to mimic the Martian Manhunter, a Veritas mode to replicate Wonder Woman’s lasso of truth, a Heat Vision mode like that of Superman, and even a Will Power mode which saw the suit deploy an energy weapon that fired blasts of green energy, not unlike the ring of a Green Lantern.

However, the trade-off to all of this power was the significant amount of time it took to recharge the suit. Furthermore, Bruce Wayne could only use one power at a time, and each power needed to be recharged between each use. As such, it makes a certain amount that the suit didn’t last all that long in the Batman mythos. One could imagine that all that recharging would have quickly become more trouble than it was actually worth. Additionally, rather than being a one-man Justice League, the Insider suit more or less allowed Bruce to mirror each of his allies one at a time.

Despite some of its notable cons, Batman’s Insider suit is certainly impressive all things considered, though it’s probably for the best that it stick around all that long. Bruce Wayne would eventually move on to become the Batman once more in DC Comics, regaining his iconic look and style while also expanding his crime-fighting efforts on a global scale with Batman Incorporated. In any case, the Insider suit does have its place as a pretty fun chapter in Batman’s career where he got to try out the powers of the rest of the Justice League.
