If you’re enjoying the new mobile game that allows you to take control of Westworld then we may have some bad news for you.

Video games based on television shows and movies, and vice versa, can be rather hit and miss. The majority of the Lord Of The Rings games over the years have been terrific, however, it’s safe to say that Resident Evil makes a much better game than it does a movie. That won’t stop developers trying though, and it won’t stop eager fans from trusting them.

One of the hottest shows on television right now is the incomparable Westworld. Who wouldn’t want the opportunity to step inside a virtual version of the frankly twisted theme park? Well, thanks to Warner Bros. and Behavior Interactive, you can. The two have recently released a mobile game which allows players to step inside Westworld and effectively control everything that happens.

There’s a problem though, and it’s a big one. A few years ago, the aforementioned companies helped Bethesda put together Fallout Shelter, a management sim just like the Westworld mobile game. It would seem that the two games bear an awful lot of similarities, including many of the same bugs, and Bethesda is not happy about. In fact, as reported by Kotaku, they’re suing Warner Bros. and Behavior Interactive.

Bethesda is claiming that a lot of the code used to create the Westworld mobile game must be the same code that was created for Fallout Shelter. Some of the screenshots from both games look extremely similar when compared. Also, as mentioned above, Westworld is exhibiting some of the same bugs that Fallout Shelter has in the past. Apparently, Bethesda is looking for compensation and also for the Westworld game in its current form to be removed from the market.

Warner Bros. and Westworld may be big names and big brands, but Fallout is hardly a minnow. The game’s creators have gone to war in court with other companies in the past and come out on top. The most recent example involved them settling out of court with the creators of Minecraft due to a trademark issue. Clearly, Bethesda is not to be trifled with.

Josh has been gaming for as long as he can remember. That love began with a mild childhood addiction to the Sega Genesis, or Mega Drive since he lives in the UK. Back then, Sonic 2 quickly became his favorite game and as you might have guessed from his picture, the franchise has remained close to his heart ever since. Nowadays, he splits his time between his PS4 and his Switch and spends far too much time playing Fortnite.
