The Chrysalax is the unique Wonder Weapon for Forsaken. It initially has damage modes – a melee axe mode and an SMG-like ranged option. The Crysalax’s damage stacks with class abilities, such as Melee 5’s 25% melee damage increase, making it a great option for surviving into Zombies’ higher round numbers. Another great perk the Chrysalax provides is the ability to leech armor and health out of zombies, which can easily be the difference between life and death in a pinch. The Chrysalax is acquired by various means around the map, such as the Mystery Box, Trials Machine, or by the new Arcade Token mechanic.

Downed zombies will sometimes drop a new item called an Arcade Token. These can be spent in the abandoned Arcade to play various minigames. The first, called Enduro, is an RC car stunt course that rewards prizes like extra points. The second is a remaster of the original COD: World at War Zombies map, Nacht der Untoten. For each round completed, a chest will spawn with rewards like points, powerups, and salvage. The last minigame is Der Eisendrache, named after the map in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Similar to the dragon-feeding objective of the original map, the minigame requires players to kill zombies in a ring of fire for a potential golden chest reward, which may include the Chrysalax.

The new mini bosses on Forsaken are Abominations – large, three-headed dogs that play an integral role in the completion of the map’s main Easter egg. Similar to Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Zombies’ Margwas mini bosses on the Shadows of Evil map, the Abominations are defeated by shooting each of the three heads. However, the Abominations pose a more significant threat, as they are equipped with much better mobility than the Margwas.

Black Ops Cold War Forsaken’s New Features – The Forsaken Boss

The final boss of the new map is a giant, humanoid creature called The Forsaken, which has a very different health mechanic from other bosses in Zombies. To damage it, players must charge mounted energy turrets by killing zombies with the Chrysalax, then shoot the turrets at weak spots. Normal guns can only be used to damage The Forsaken’s armor and will not affect its main health bar. After defeating The Forsaken, players will see the the final cutscene of Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies mode.

As the final Zombies map of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Forsaken brings things back to where it all started, referencing Zombies modes of the past and even the mode’s original map. Call of Duty: Vanguard and its new Zombies mode are set to release on November 5, 2021. Since the new game is again developed by Treyarch, the Zombies story will be continuing much sooner than fans are used to.
