Adult Swim and Crunchyroll have just released two new looks at the highly anticipated animated series Blade Runner: Black Lotus. This new series is set in-between the iconic 1982 film Blade Runner and its sequel Blade Runner 2049. The series will be coming to Adult Swim and Crunchyroll this year, and it will surely be exciting for viewers to get another project set in Blade Runner’s futuristic version of Los Angeles.

Blade Runner: Black Lotus is set in Los Angeles in 2032. The animated series follows Elle (voiced by Jessica Henwick), a Replicant living in the aftermath of the fall of the Tyrell Corporation. Elle has also lost her memory, having only a locked data device and a black lotus tattoo to lead her down the path for answers. The show will follow her journey to reclaim her memories and figure out who is responsible for her violent past and the truth of her identity. Henwick is also joined in the cast by Stephen Root, Peyton List, Brian Cox, and Wes Bentley.

Now, Adult Swim and Crunchyroll have released two exciting looks at the world of Blade Runner: Black Lotus. The first is a poster showing off Elle and the other characters that will appear in the series. The poster has the familiar neon vibe and cyberpunk aesthetic, while also teasing a lot of action, as all of the characters have some sort of weapon. They have also released the opening sequence of the show, which gives another great feel for what the show is going to be like. While a short sequence, it is enough to excite any fans of the Blade Runner universe. Check out the poster and opening sequence below:

While a tease for what is to come, these two looks give a great feel as to what the show is going to be like, with the opening sequence in particular helping. Fans can see very familiar parts of the Blade Runner universe, like the police vehicle and shots of a smoggy and neon-light-filled Los Angeles. The directors of the series, Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama, have also stated that they tried to recreate a “Hollywood atmosphere” for Black Lotus. This will be exciting for audiences, as it shows the directors’ dedication towards creating a diverse environment for the futuristic world of Los Angeles. They have also said that they wanted to create a human story but from the perspective of Replicants, which will be a fun way to tell a story set in this world.

This look at the series is sure to get those excited for the show to look forward to it even more. The series will be premiering later this year. The Blade Runner world is iconic and well-known for many science fiction fans, so being able to explore more stories will allow fans to get even more content. Blade Runner: Black Lotus will be streamed on Crunchyroll in Japanese with subtitles, and it will also be on Toonami in English.
