So it turns out that Bloodhound’s Heirloom was actually teased in his Battle Pass banner.

Okay, so it doesn’t look quite the same, but it’s a hatchet, and Bloodhound got a hatchet as his Heirloom. That’s basically the same.

Heirlooms were introduced in the latest season of Apex Legends as a super-ultra-rare item tier above legendary. It used to be that you couldn’t just go out and buy an Heirloom–you had to earn it through hours upon hours of gameplay and grinding out seasonal loot boxes. The first Heirloom to arrive was Wraith’s Kunai, which was cool, and now the second one has arrived courtesy of the new Iron Crown Collection Event.

What’s the Iron Crown Event? It’s like a Battle Pass within the Season 2 Battle Pass. It has its own currency, it’s own store, and it’s own challenges that are completely separate from Battle Pass. Getting the Iron Crown challenges completed (and acquiring the event currency of Crowns) often involves completely challenges in the Battle Pass or doing something completely bonkers, like getting 25,000 damage.

And even then, you gotta pay for it. In order to get Bloodhound’s Heirloom, which sits at the very peak of the Iron Crown Event, you gotta unlock every other tier below it, and that costs Apex Coins.

PC Gamer did the math and calculated the lowest amount you’d have to spend to get the Heirloom would be $170.

This sort of came out of nowhere, and not everyone is happy about the apparent cash grab.

However, one Redditor notes that if we weren’t warned about the price, we were at least given a hint as to what Bloodhound’s Heirloom would be courtesy of the Season 2 Battle Pass banner. Note that his banner contains a hatchet, and Bloodhound’s Heirloom turned out to be a hatchet.

Yes, the Raven’s Bite (as Bloodhound’s Heirloom is called) doesn’t exactly look like the hatchet in the banner, and several Redditors pointed this out. User FrozenFroh contends that they don’t have to look the same and that Wraith’s Heirloom was also teased in the same way with her Season 2 banner.

Two points make a pattern, so look to everyone else’s banners to see what might be the next Heirloom to appear in Apex Legends.
