Whether it’s a strange creature, quirky NPC, or colorful villain, there’s a reason why these oddballs are some of the most memorable characters in gaming. However, it’s this type of behavior that can disarm you and make you think that they aren’t a threat.

Their wild personality or appearance helps to hide the real threat they present. In Bravely Default 2, you’ll face a fair share of unusual folks, some of which you’ll have to fight. This includes the tall and unnerving Viginitio who doesn’t know when to stay down.

Sooner or later, you’re bound to encounter someone obsessed with immortality in a fantasy world. In Bravely Default 2, this happens to be Vigintio Isaac. Even though he used to be a highly skilled wizard, he has since fallen from grace and turned to the dark arts for magical pursuit.

This has led to a breakthrough when he discovered the secrets of undeath and applied them to himself, essentially becoming a living corpse. Combining his new powers with the abilities of the Arcanist Asterisk, he aids Adam Holograd in his conquests and is the first major enemy that the heroes will encounter during the story of Chapter Four.

Being a former wizard and a practicing Aracanist, Vigintio is a master of magical attacks and can deal a lot of elemental damage.

Fighting Vigintio

  • The first thing to note about Vigintio is that several of his attacks are designed to hit your whole party with multiple elemental types. This not only makes it tricky to balance resistances but these attacks cannot be reflected in any way. Therefore, the best defense you can take against them is to equip your characters with armor to improve general magic resistance.
  • Though he may look sickly, Vigintio is able to endure a fair amount of punishment. His reliance on the Dark arts makes him vulnerable to Light elemental attacks while also taking extra damage from spears and daggers. He’ll take reduced damage from staves and is not immune to any form of damage. However, his magical prowess allows him to absorb Wind, Lightning, Water, and Fire elemental attacks.
  • It’s important to note that Vigintio will feign defeat several times during the fight, but will rise shortly after thanks to his undead curse. He’ll have reduced HP every time so make use of status effects to keep him on edge.
  • Due to Vigintio’s magical resilience and damage output, you’ll need a party makeup focusing on physical damage with buffing and healing. For damage, the Shieldmaster and Thief can provide while jobs like the Bard, Salve-Maker, and Red Mage can boost and go on the offensive when needed.
