The popular brawler Brawlhalla has finally received its official launch date for mobile platforms and will be available on August 6 featuring full cross-play between PC and console versions. Pre-registrations are now open, and players should sign up now to receive any important updates that might be released.

It is great to see that Ubisoft was able to achieve its commitment to incorporating cross play right from launch, as this will allow friends to brawl together, and also to for players to continue in their current progression. A major problem with Overwatch when it launched on the Nintendo Switch was that players were starting over from scratch on brand new accounts, which is a major turn off for many players who have sunk hundreds of hours into their existing accounts, so players of Brawlhalla will be able to keep advancing without missing a beat.

The big question now is whether the touchscreen controls have been sufficiently adapted to allow for the fast-paced, precise inputs needed at high levels of play. In the trailer above, there does appear to be a broad range of customization available, but time will tell if this is sufficient for players to enjoy Brawlhalla at the same level as other available platforms.

If not, the best move would be to pick up a third-party controller that can help take one’s gameplay to the next level on mobile devices. We always recommend 8BitDo’s range of products, and the SN30 Pro for Xbox might be a great starting point. This controller was made in collaboration with Microsoft and upon release is meant to work for xCloud game streaming, Xbox One, and Android devices. With that in mind, there are several other controller options to choose from as well.

For those who might only have heard of Brawlhalla in passing but have not played it for themselves, now is a great time to jump into the action. The free-to-play Smash Bros. clone is a ton of fun, and best of all, is constantly featuring new characters from a broad range of fandoms. Lara Craft was recently added to the game, and before that, there have been crossover events with the WWE, Adventure Time, and much more. In total, there are now fifty fighters available to choose from, and the game is overall a blast to play with friends.
