Biomutant is coming out, and it’s coming with a lot of different editions. Here’s what you get in each of ‘em.
We’re not too upset if you’ve never heard of Biomutant. This classy little action RPG was first revealed way back in 2017, and since then it’s been in development with Swedish dev Experiment 101. Coronavirus kiboshed plans to get this game out earlier in the year, but they’re on track for a Q4 2020 release, or so we’re told.
And pre-orders are available now, so that gives things a little more weight.
There are three ways to buy Biomutant. You could spend way more money than makes sense for a brand new IP and get the Biomutant Atomic Edition, which comes with an exquisite diorama of the racoon protagonist taking on an ogre-like anthro animal in a duel to the death. You also get a fabric poster, a t-shirt, the official soundtrack, and a giant mousepad–and the game itself, of course, on either PS4, Xbox One, or PC. All this can be yours for the price of $399.99 USD.
Too rich for your blood? Not to worry, the Collector’s Edition is somewhat more reasonable. You still get the soundtrack and the fancy fabric art poster, and this time you get a Biomutant figurine that comes in a nice box. Oh, and the game. Biomutant Collector’s Edition will set you back $119.99.
Or you could just get Biomutant Standard Edition for the price of $59.99. That gets you the game, and that’s it.
Which is nothing to scoff at. Biomutant is looking to introduce us to a post-apocalyptic world where mutant animals now own the Earth. It’ll feature a combination of third-person shooting and slashing, branching storylines, and a karma system that’ll change dialog options with NPCs. There’s also a mutation system that improves your little racoon’s abilities, and a character creation system where your initial stats can drastically alter your character’s appearance.
