Season of the Lost arrives today, barring any unforeseen calamities to Destiny 2’s servers (Telesto, I’m lookin’ at you). Unlike most Destiny 2 seasons, which usually last between 10-12 weeks, Season of the Lost will be a whopping 25 weeks long. That’s twice as long as most Destiny 2 seasons, so players are expecting it to have twice the amount of content as a normal Destiny 2 season.

We already know a lot of what’s coming in Season of the Lost thanks to extensive previews from Bungie. Most of them had to do with improvements to the Destiny 2 sandbox, such as reworks to Exotic armors, buffs to underused subclasses, a huge nerf to the Anarchy Exotic Grenade Launcher, and the complete removal of primary ammo from the game.

Now thanks to the Destiny 2 Showcase, we know more of what to expect in Season of the Lost.

First up is a new six-player matchmade activity. Astral Alignment will have Guardians revive Awoken technology to finally rescue Mara Sov’s lost tech witches from the Shattered Realm. You might remember that realm from the Shattered Throne Dungeon from the Forsaken expansion. Expect to go into the Shattered Realm on a weekly mission similar to the Expunge missions from Season of the Splicer.

Ager’s Scepter is a brand new Exotic Trace Rifle that holds “the keys to areas of the Shattered Realm previously barred.” The Lorent Driver is another new Exotic, this time a Linear Fusion Rifle, which is included in the Season of the Lost season pass. There are also 25 new and reprised weapons, a selection of Legendary Stasis Weapons, and new Exotic armors for Titans, Hunters, and Warlocks.

We still don’t have a calendar available for Season of the Lost, but we do know Bungie will host a 30th-anniversary event later in December. Season of the Lost goes live later today in Destiny 2.
