Bungie Removes Guaranteed HighStat Armor From Destiny 2s Season Pass

We’re just a few days away from Season of the Splicer, and Bungie used their last weekly blog update before next week’s patch to showcase some of the big changes coming in season 14. Bungie talked about all the new weapons coming in the next season, but they also warned us that the season pass is going to be missing something that was in all previous seasons.

Ever since Shadowkeep, Destiny 2’s season pass had always awarded players with the new seasonal armor set as they progressed through each rank, eventually providing players with a set of high-stat seasonal armor. The season pass used to be the only guaranteed place to upgrade your arsenal with armor featuring high overall stats, but that’s no longer the case for Season of the Splicer.

“Moving forward, Seasonal Armor will be earned from Seasonal activities,” wrote Bungie in yesterday’s TWAB. “You’ll also be able to guarantee pieces from these sets using Focused Umbral Engrams.”

Unfortunately, neither seasonal activities nor Focused Umbral Engrams guarantee a high stat distribution on armor. Guardians seeking good armor rolls will have to focus on dungeons (Pit of Heresy, Shattered Throne, Prophecy), raids, and the weekly playlist challenges, all sources that can potentially award high-stat armor.

Instead of the seasonal armor, Season of the Splicer’s season pass will replace those slots with “packages of Glimmer, Legendary Shards, Upgrade Modules, Exotic Engrams, Enhancement Cores, and Enhancement Prisms.” The seasonal Universal Ornaments will continue to be awarded at the end of the season pass.

In the same post, Bungie revealed most of next season’s 30 new weapons, including the Cryosthesia 77k Exotic Sidearm, the new Null Composure Fusion Rifle, and the return of the Hung Jury SR4 Scout Rifle.

Season of the Splicer arrives on May 11.
