Brie Larson didn’t miss the chance to celebrate the opening of Disneyland’s Avengers Campus as she made a surprise visit to the park over the weekend.

Captain Marvel star Brie Larson visited the Avengers Campus on its opening weekend. Larson was launched into the MCU as Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel, in the 2019 billion-dollar blockbuster. The movie follows Danvers’ origin story as the former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot imbued with superhuman strength after being exposed to the Tesseract’s energy. Set in 1995, Captain Marvel is the precursor to the forming of the Avengers as Nick Fury drafts his superhero initiative after Danvers’ Air Force call sign, “Avenger.” The superhero joined the group in Avengers: Endgame after responding to Fury’s call to defeat Thanos. Larson is set to reprise her role in the upcoming sequel, The Marvels.
The Avengers Campus at Disneyland Resort in California officially opened last Friday after being pushed back for almost a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Marvel-themed land includes immersive rides, restaurants, and live entertainment that features fan-favorite MCU characters. The Avengers Campus’ opening ceremony included appearances from some of the Earth’s mightiest heroes, including Anthony Mackie as the newly anointed Captain America and Ant-Man star Paul Rudd. While Larson wasn’t part of the grand event, she made sure to celebrate the new attraction’s opening by making an unannounced visit to the park.
On Sunday, Larson shared photos of her fun trip to the Avengers Campus on Instagram. The Captain Marvel star can be seen beaming with child-like excitement outside the Stark Industries building in the park. “Visit the Avengers Campus, [check!]” the 31-year-old actress wrote in the captions. While Larson’s Captain Marvel is one of the newer Avengers, her place in the MCU is crucial now that Phase 4 has started to roll out. Carol Danvers’ story will continue to unfold with The Marvels, which is set for a 2022 release. The film will see Danvers team up with Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris).
Exciting things are in store for Marvel fans as the studios plan to make a big comeback to the cinemas with a string of movies starting with Black Widow in July. The new Avengers Campus is expected to hype up these films with character meet-and-greets and other fun events. But nothing is more thrilling than having a chance encounter with the real actors themselves and seeing them casually strolling around the park. Now that the new expansion is fully open, guests could see some of Marvel’s most famous stars making surprise appearances in the coming days.
