Catch This New ‘Pokemon’ Stage in ‘Super Smash Bros.’

Another stage has been confirmed for the 3DS version of ‘Super Smash Bros.’, but this one is based on ‘Pokemon Black’ and ‘White’.

It won’t be long now until fans finally have the highly anticipated handheld installment of Super Smash Bros. loaded up on their 3DS. The portable iteration is scheduled to hit at the beginning of October, and while that date falls out of the initial Summer 2014 window that was announced, it’s still a relatively soon release that’s quickly approaching.

Despite this, Nintendo is still surprising fans with a number of new announcements regarding the forthcoming fighter.

Since the aforementioned 3DS version is scheduled to hit before its Wii U counterpart, a majority of announcements lately have pertained to the content that’ll be found within Super Smash Bros. for 3DS. The latest announcement only further cements that trend, as series creator Masahiro Sakurai revealed via his latest MiiVerse post that a new stage based on Pokemon Black and White from the Nintendo DS era will be appearing in the handheld entry of Smash.

Hot on the heels of a newly announced Paper Mario stage, Sakurai briefly touched on what awaits fans in the mysterious new battlefield.

Set in front of a castle that stands as the home for the misunderstood antagonist N, and will feature a pair of Legendary Pokemon in the form of Reshiram and Zekrom — as well as a special appearance from Milotic for some reason. It’s not clear why the evolutionary form of Feebas will be present on the stage, but perhaps it will act as a boss character while the cover stars of Black and White wage war in the background.

This new level is the second Pokemon-releated stage that’ll be appearing in the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros., with the other being a stage based on Pokemon X/Y’s Prism Tower. Since Pikachu, Charizard, Greninja and Lucario are all confirmed fighters for the new Smash Bros. titles (with additional character(s) still very likely), having two stages representing the immensely popular franchise seems more than appropriate.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS arrives on October 3, 2014, while the Wii U version is set to hit during Holiday 2014.
