Celebrate Summer Solstice And Do Battle With Zekrom This Week In Pokémon GO

Weekly events are back in Pokémon GO after a brief break following the back-to-back Throwback Events.

Pokémon GO players were afforded the opportunity to roll back the years throughout the month of May. Niantic added weekly events to the game, each celebrating a different region from Pokémon’s past such as Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. Those events offered up so much that the game has felt a little, well, uneventful since they ended.

That all changes this week. Niantic has revealed that Pokémon GO’s solstice-themed and Bug Out! events are returning. Both will take place before the end of June starting with a five-day long solstice event. It will focus on Solrock and Lunatone, but also include appearances from other sun and moon associated Pokémon such as Clefairy and Sunkern.

Two days after the solstice-themed event comes to an end, the Bug Out! one begins. As the name and previous events suggest, it will be all about bug-types. Dwebble will hog a lot of the spotlight this time around though since its shiny variant will be available in the wild and 5 km eggs throughout the event. The Bug Out! event will come to an end on July 1, 2020.

If the anticipation of the solstice-themed event isn’t enough to tide trainers over for the next few days, Zekrom should have made its Pokémon GO debut by the time this article goes live. For the past two weeks, Reshiram has been the star of many five-star raids. Zekrom will be the second of the Unova region’s Tao Trio to appear in raids starting from Tuesday. It will presumably stick around for the same amount of time as Reshiram, so two weeks.

Last but not least, tickets for Pokémon GO Fest 2020 are now live. This year’s Fest doesn’t take place until July but will be an event like no other in Pokémon GO history. Rather than having its biggest annual event in specific cities, GO Fest 2020 will take place worldwide. Anyone and everyone can buy a ticket and take part, and just like everything else in the game right now, it will revolve around tasks and rewards that can be achieved from home and while social distancing.
