Loving Paper Mario: The Origami King and are looking for some sweet merch to celebrate the launch of the game? Then you’re in luck – Nintendo has just announced brand new merchandise inspired by their latest release!
There are four items in the new Paper Mario: The Origami King merchandise lineup.
The first is this unique tote bag prominently featuring Paper Mario on the front. The bag’s exterior is made to resemble a brown paper bag, though the inside reveals that its interior is a lot sturdier than it may appear. It retails for 2970 yen (about 28 USD).
The next item is some adorable Mario washi tape, featuring Paper Mario as the main pattern. The tape is also uniquely shaped to Mario’s body and each of his different positions (e.g. lying down, standing up, touching his toes, etc.) on the tape’s pattern. It retails for 550 yen (about 5 USD).
The next item is this cute plastic folder (named the “A4 Clear File” on Nintendo’s website). One side simply features the Paper Mario: The Origami King logo and a tiny Paper Mario in the bottom lefthand corner, while the other side showcases all the characters from the game in their origami forms. It retails for 330 yen (about 3 USD).
The final item, and probably the coolest of the batch, is an origami set that allows fans to fold their own origami versions of the game’s characters. The set looks pretty throughout, including chargers like Princess Peach, Goomba, Shy Guy, and more. The origami set retails for 1540 yen (about 14 USD).
Here’s a look at some of the very detailed instructions included in the set, which walks through how to properly fold origami of every character.
At this time, the items are unfortunately only available in Japan via the My Nintendo Store and Nintendo TOKYO retail outlets. Hopefully, Nintendo won’t keep this a Japan-exclusive merchandise launch and that some (or all) of the unique items will be available for purchase in the West soon.
Paper Mario: The Origami King was released on July 17, 2020. The game is available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
