Fandom crossover is no new thing for mainstream properties and brands, but rarely does it ever leave the realm of memes and general discussion. That said, when talented fans really put their skills to use, they can produce some truly remarkable examples of creative fan expression. One fan, in particular, has shown off their own interpretation of a crossover between Star Wars and Pokémon that has to be seen to be fully appreciated.

The work comes from Ry-Spirit, an artist who regularly posts video game and movie-related fan-art based on beloved geek properties. While scrolling through their page, one can see everything from Mario driving a Fall Guy like a mech-suit, Pikachu dressed like Deadpool, and various works of all kinds of characters.

One of the artist’s favorite works, however, seems to be creating theoretical Pokémon style evolution trees of various media characters. They have dozens of these kinds of works, and they all work in a similar way. The middle evolution is basically just the character as people know them already, but then Ry-Spirit imagines a previous evolution stage, and then a third evolution, just like many Pokémon have.

Over time, they have created quite an impressive lineup of Star Wars character evolutions, in particular, and they really deserve to be seen by fans. Whether it’s a baby C-3PO named ‘C3Pee-O,’ or a swole Jabba the Hutt evolution titled ‘Hubba the Hott,’ the creativity in the various evolutions ranges from hilarious jokes to genuinely impressive designs.

There’s quite a nice handful to look over. A particularly fun one with the Jawa evolution line, which begins with a non-threatening blob with eyes that is the ‘Ja’ and ends with the Jawas grouping up into one large, threatening being known as the ‘Wawaweewaw.’ Another fun one is General Grievous’ line of evolutions, which ends with the 8-lightsaber wielding being named ‘Good Grief,’ because, as one might expect, “that’s exactly what people say when they see him.”

Whatever your favorite Star Wars era, there is something to love in this lineup of fan art, as it covers a range of eras and characters. It goes to show that there’s a lot of fun to be had with the Pokemon evolution concept, and it gives Ry-Spirit, in particular, a lot of room to flex their creative muscles. Those who enjoy the art will definitely want to give them a follow on their Facebook page, Ry-Spirit Art, as they regularly post similar work with all sorts of different properties.

The Star Wars saga is now available on Disney Plus.
