And Just Like That star Chris Noth has teased that there still may be a way for Big to appear in the Sex and the City reboot series despite dying of a heart attack in the premiere episode. Chris Noth has played the dapper financier on Sex and the City since the very first episode in 1998. His on-again-off-again relationship with Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) carried him through 40 more episodes and both Sex and the City movies in 2008 and 2011.

And Just Like That debuted on HBO Max a week ago, bringing the world of Sex and the City back to audiences for the first time in a decade, sans Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones. In the premiere episode, tragedy strikes when Mr. Big, now Carrie’s husband as of the first movie, dies in the shower after a strenuous Peloton ride, resurrecting a plotline that was originally meant to appear in the scrapped Sex and the City 3 film. In addition to causing Peloton’s stock to plummet, the scene also eliminated the chances of Mr. Big appearing in any future episodes, or so everyone has thought.

While speaking with Vogue, Chris Noth was asked if this was the last that would be seen of Mr. Big or if he would potentially be appearing in a dream. His answer was as practiced and coy as any spoiler-averse Marvel star. Although he doesn’t want to “get in trouble,” he said that “there may be a haunting that happens.” Read the full quote below:

I think there may be something. I can’t tell you what, but…there may be alittle…there may be a haunting that happens. I don’t know. I don’t want to get in trouble.

Appearing in a dream is just one of several ways that Chris Noth may still get to appear in And Just Like That season 1. There are many common methods for TV shows to continue having their stars appear after their characters pass away. Many drama shows like Pose and Grey’s Anatomy have no qualms about having deceased characters appear as “ghosts” who speak to those they left behind as apparitions in their own minds. There is also the flashback approach, which is heavily utilized by Money Heist. There could be flashbacks to moments where the character was alive that inform the events of the present day.

Whatever And Just Like That does, as long as it keeps the dramatic and shocking antics coming, it may just be the next big thing on HBO Max. The premiere episode of the series had the highest first-day ratings of any premiering show on the service. That was likely boosted by word of mouth about Big’s death, but if the show can maintain those numbers, that also spells out good news for the future of the Sex and the City reboot, with or without Mr. Big.
