Hulu releases a bloody teaser trailer for the anthology movie Books of Blood, based on the works of horror master Clive Barker. Barker of course is best known for writing and directing the horror classic Hellraiser, but the author indeed has also created a large body of literary work that continues to serve as inspiration for other creators. As a case in point, director Brannon Braga and executive producer Seth MacFarlane have adapted a trio of tales from Barker’s horror short story series Books of Blood into an anthology movie for Hulu.

With Books of Blood set to hit the streaming service on October 7, 2020, Hulu has released a brief first trailer teasing the movie’s bloody and twisted horrors. See the trailer in the space below:

This in fact isn’t the first time material from Books of Blood has been adapted for the screen. Famously, the classic horror film Candyman was an adaptation of the Barker story The Forbidden, which was first published in volume five of the original collection. Somewhat less famously, the story Rawhead Rex was turned into a terrible ’80s movie that now has a cult following. Other stories from the six volume collection to receive adaptations include Midnight Meat Train, The Last Illusion (which became Lord of Illusions), The Body Politic (which became Quicksilver Highway) and Dread. The new Hulu anthology movie according to an official synopsis “takes a journey into uncharted and forbidden territory through three tales tangled in space and time.”

The cast of Books of Blood includes Andy McQueen, Freda Foh Shen, Nicholas Campbell, Anna Friel, Britt Robertson, Rafi Gavron and Yul Vazquez.
