A Call of Duty: Warzone streamer has lost his Twitch account after accidentally revealing that he was cheating while bragging about his performance in a recent game. Both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone have had major cheating problems for a long time, despite Infinity Ward increasing its efforts to identify and ban cheaters, and even making cheaters play against each other as punishment.

Despite all the developer’s efforts, there seems to be no end in sight for cheating in Call of Duty. Infinity Ward has issued wave after wave of bans, and is constantly improving its cheat detection, but new methods and more devious perpetrators make it impossible to eliminate the problem entirely. Some of Infinity Ward’s efforts even have even caused collateral damage, accidentally banning players who swear they’d done nothing wrong. In a recent case, Infinity Ward even went back and reversed bans on a number of accounts, seemingly validating players’ claims that they’d done nothing wrong to begin with.

On the other hand, some cases of cheating are far more obvious than others. That was the case for Warzone streamer MrGolds recently. As PCGamer reports, the streamer accidentally revealed that he was cheating during a stream – while he was in the middle of a rant about how good a player he is. MrGolds boasted of his skill at Call of Duty, asking his audience “have you ever seen anyone play like me?” all the while a cheat engine was visible running in the background. MrGolds later claimed that he wasn’t cheating at all, posting a video that allegedly proved that he could win without using cheats, but it was too late. Twitch has since removed his channel, and while there’s been no statement about the reason why, it seems pretty clear that it was because of the rather clear evidence of his cheating.

Even when players don’t do anything as obvious as using a cheat engine on stream, Call of Duty players have found ways to gain an illicit advantage over each other. A long-running glitch in games in the series has allowed players to see the opposing team’s position for years, and pro players are getting sick of it. Unfortunately, issues that arise from bugs like this often prove to be even harder to eradicate than flat-out cheats.

Playing against cheaters in any multiplayer game can be extremely frustrating, especially when it’s not always easy to tell if someone is cheating in the first place. In that way, Call of Duty: Warzone players can almost thank MrGolds for removing one more cheater from the game – even if it was on accident.
