The Nintendo Switch ports just keep coming. Call of Juarez: Gunslinger on the go, anyone?

A couple of years into its lifespan, the Nintendo Switch certainly has proven a few naysayers wrong. From a rather limp start, the system gained momentum that hasn’t really slowed down since. Buoyed along by mega-hits like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (and with sure successes like Pokémon Sword and Shield and Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the…horizon), the plucky little hybrid handheld that could is still making waves.

Crucially, though, the Switch is about more than just the first-party IPs (/Game Freak monster-wranging franchises) Nintendo are known for. Unlike the poor old Wii U, the system has some hefty third-party support behind it. Ports of huge titles like Skyrim, Doom and now Overwatch are available, and even for those who have played them before, the portability factor has been more than enough to encourage double-dipping.

This factor, combined with the fact that many Nintendo fans may never have gotten the chance to experience these games before, makes ports like these a very enticing prospect for many. Heck, if the Switch can power The Witcher 3, it can bring us a lot of quality titles from the last few years. Games that would’ve been an impossible dream in portable form.

Now, 2013’s Call of Juarez: Gunslinger many not have been top of everybody’s list of titles to see ported to Switch, but we’re darned if we’re not going to welcome it with open arms. Techland games recently announced that the fourth in the cult classic Call of Juarez series is Switch-bound. This Western FPS follows the story of one Silas Greaves, a grizzled bounty hunter who is regaling his fellow saloon customers with playable tales about his violent life. It’s a unique set-up (Greaves ‘corrects’ himself, and elements of the game world change accordingly, as those listening question things he tells them).

Gunslinger was well-regarded on its initial release, with its story, voice-acting and high-octane action sitting well with players and critics. It releases on Nintendo Switch on December 10, complete with new motion controls. In the meantime, check out the trailer:

If you squint a bit, it’s almost like having Red Dead Redemption 2 on Switch (although the now-retired Reggie told us that isn’t happening almost a year ago).
