Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed once again, and will now launch on December 10 as opposed to its intended November 19 release date.

The news comes from Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red, who recently took to Twitter in order to inform fans of the delay. You can check out the tweet for yourself below, which features a lengthy explanation as to why Cyberpunk 2077 will now be launching 21 days later than planned.

It’s worth noting that this announcement comes after CD Projekt Red stated that Cyberpunk 2077 would not be delayed again during a financial report from earlier this year, and that Cyberpunk 2077 officially went gold earlier this month. Going gold usually means that a game is ready to be shipped and will only be optimized from there on out — this generally amounts to bug fixes and stability improvements added as part of a day one patch, and is a state that has rarely — if ever — been rescinded after being announced.

It is also essential to remember the recent confirmation that developers at CD Projekt Red are already undergoing mandatory crunch, despite previous promises that working conditions for Cyberpunk 2077 wouldn’t be as bad as they were for The Witcher 3. This means that the Cyberpunk 2077 devs are working long hours and extra days in order to finish the game, and will likely continue to do so through the delay period.

The delay likely has to do with CD Projekt Red’s recent announcement that Cyberpunk 2077 is due to launch on Google Stadia the same day as all other platforms. It’s important to look back at the tweet here — including Stadia, Cyberpunk 2077 is currently in development for nine different systems, the other ones being PC, Xbox One, Xbox One X, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS4, PS4 Pro, and PS5. The next-gen versions of Cyberpunk 2077 are different to all of the other editions, meaning that those versions are developed separately.

Cyberpunk 2077 is due to launch on all of the above platforms on December 10, 2020. If you’re curious for more details, check out our Cyberpunk 2077 exclusive interview.
