Artist Anton Lavrushkin shared Lilith-starring art he created for the Darksiders franchise, which could hint at the possibility of a Darksiders 4.

Promotional art from artist Anton Lavrushkin seems to hint that publisher THQ Nordic may have a Darksiders 4 in the works. The action RPG franchise recently reentered the topic of conversation following Darksiders III’s Nintendo Switch release in September of this year.
Darksiders hacked and slashed its way into the hearts of millions over 10 years ago with the release of the original entry from Vigil Games. Its premise proved most appealing, given that it starred one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse fighting off demonic hordes on a post-apocalyptic Earth. Players were first introduced to the War character in 2010, then 2012’s Darksiders II placed Death front and center. The series took a hiatus following publisher THQ’s liquidation, but later returned once a few key members from Vigil Games reteamed to become what’s now known as Gunfire Games. And, thus, Darksiders III hit stores in 2018 with Fury as the lead, followed more than a year later by the Diablo-style spinoff Darksiders Genesis. It’s possible the fourth and final horsemen will eventually take charge in an installment of their own.
Yesterday, November 1, artist Anton Lavrushkin uploaded Darksiders promotional images to his official ArtStation page (via Wccftech). Lavrushkin didn’t offer much in the way of specifics, merely stating the following in the description: “Promotion art commission work for THQ Nordic on the Darksiders franchise.” While the art itself looks as though it could’ve belonged to marketing materials for Darksiders III, it’s worth noting that the notorious demoness did not appear in the 2018 adventure. Might this serve as the first tease for a potential Darksiders 4, then? That much remains unknown. The art in question appears below:
Lilith’s notoriety comes from her status as the creator of Nephilim, the Angel and Demon hybrid race to which Darksiders’ four horsemen belong. Thus far, the demoness has only appeared in the brand’s first two installments. It’s possible Lavrushkin shared nearly 10-year-old images. And it’s possible that the above promo art was crafted for Darksiders III and never used. But reason also suggests this may serve as the first real clue that another title may be on the cards.
If THQ Nordic does have plans for Darksiders 4, there’s no telling when the publisher will make an official announcement. Three years seems like plenty of time for the crew at Gunfire Games to have progressed on such a project, though.
