With another season right on the horizon for Destiny 2, many Guardians are doing what they can to prepare for Season of the Chosen. Many have developed different strategies for preparing for this season, most of which we’ll share in this article.

However, there are more obscure tips that Guardians can employ to prepare for this next season. Cleaning out your Vault, farming Spoils of Conquest, and spending vaulted materials at vendors are just a few examples of this. Whether you are new to Destiny or a grizzled veteran, here are ten ways you can prepare for Season of the Chosen. This list is in no particular order.

10 Turn In Your Crucible Tokens

Crucible Tokens are being depreciated in Season of the Chosen!

Once Season of the Chosen is live, players will no longer have any use for their Crucible Tokens. Bungie will let players dismantle all of their tokens at once, likely granting one Legendary Shard per token.

If you care about maximizing your rewards, however, it’s best to turn them in now. Turning in 20 tokens to Lord Shaxx will always grant a Legendary weapon or armor piece, granting three Legendary Shards when dismantled—four if you are level 30 in the premium Season Pass track. Depending on how many tokens you own, this could be a major time investment, so you’ll need to decide if the time investment is worth the Legendary Shards. For most players, it is definitely worth the hassle.

9 Level Up Your Season Pass

Those that purchased Season of the Hunt should focus on reaching rank 100 in their Season Pass before the next season releases. Later ranks in the pass grant an ornamental armor set for each class, Masterwork materials, and an Exotic ornament for Duality if you reach rank 100.

If you’ve already leveled your Season Pass, be sure to claim anything you might want when the season begins. Upgrade Modules, Masterwork materials, and Glimmer are just a few things the Season Pass grants that you might have forgotten to grab. Should you forget to do this, don’t fret; bungie.net has a webpage dedicated to claiming Season Pass rewards from the previous season. You can find it here.

8 Spend Your Vaulted Materials

Materials tied to vaulted destinations will only serve one purpose next season!

Alkane Dust, Phaseglass Needles, Simulation Seeds, and Seraphite are all tied to vaulted planets. All four of these materials were sometimes required to purchase daily Masterwork materials from Banshee-44 or other resources from Spider.

Starting next season, the Spider will be the only NPC that will take your sunset materials, exchanging them for a “small Glimmer exchange” as referenced in this TWAB post. While this does give them some small use, it pales in comparison to obtaining vendor resources such as Upgrade Modules or Legendary Shards with them. Spend them now while vendors are still asking for them.

7 Farm Spoils Of Conquest

Spoils of Conquest are a new currency introduced in Beyond Light. Completing repeat raid encounters and opening raid chests will grant stacks of this material, which can be used to obtain older raid Exotics or duplicate gear from the Deep Stone Crypt.

Farm these Spoils of Conquest now; do not spend them! If previous seasons are any indication, all gear from the Deep Stone Crypt raid will have its infusion cap increased by one season. This allows Legendary Deep Stone Crypt gear to carry over to the Witch Queen expansion! Farm as many Spoils of Conquest as possible to bring your favorite raid items into the Witch Queen expansion.

6 Hoard Daily Bounties

Weekly and Crow bounties are being removed next season!

Hoarding weekly bounties was an excellent way of earning some free XP whenever a new season dropped, as players could turn them in right as the season started. Since Seasonal Challenges are taking the place of weekly bounties, all weekly bounties are being removed from the game. Completed or not, they’re getting deleted. Crow bounties will also be removed from player inventories.

For those wanting to store some XP before the new season begins, daily bounties are a safe bet. Complete daily strike, Crucible, and Gambit bounties from each of the vendors. Don’t turn them in; hold onto them. When the new season starts, turn all of them in for a nice influx of XP.

5 Replace Your Season Of Dawn Gear

All items from Season of Dawn will be sunset next season. This includes classic weapons such as:

  • Perfect Paradox
  • Breachlight
  • Martyr’s Retribution
  • Patron of Lost Causes
  • Line in the Sand

Find replacements for these weapons before the next season begins. Fortunately, nearly every notable weapon from Season of Dawn has a notable replacement. They’re listed below:

  • Perfect Paradox ->Heritage (Kinetic) or IKELOS_SG_v1.0.2 (Energy)
  • Breachlight -> High Albedo
  • Martyr’s Retribution -> Deafening Whisper
  • Patron of Lost Causes -> Night Watch
  • Line in the Sand -> Corsair’s Wrath

4 Unlock Any Remaining Aspects And Fragments

Currently owned Stasis Fragment currency are being depreciated next season!

Obtain all of your Stasis Aspects and Fragments before next season begins, especially Fragments. Any Stasis Fragments—the currency type, not the Fragments themselves—you currently have will be removed starting next season. If you don’t own all six Fragments, try to obtain them before Season of the Chosen begins. You’ll still be able to earn Beyond Light Aspects and Fragments next season, but you won’t be able to use any Stasis Fragments you’ve stockpiled thus far. Use them now before it’s too late.

3 Farm Master Lost Sectors

Master Lost Sectors are one of the best activities introduced in Beyond Light. They give solo players a tough activity to become proficient in, granting high-stat Exotic armor when completed. Better yet, the Exotics that drop from Legend/Master Lost Sectors are restricted to one armor slot only (Helmet, Arms, Chest, or Boots).

If you still need to complete or Exotic collection or lack top-tier stats on your favorite Exotics, farm them now before Bungie increases their Power Level requirement next season. We cover each of these Lost Sectors in our Destiny 2 Beyond Light Complete Guide. Click on whichever Lost Sector you’re interested in farming.

2 Clean Your Vault

If you haven’t cleaned out your Vault this season, now is a great time to do so. Owners of the current season will obtain four Legendary Shards for every Legendary weapon and armor piece they dismantle. While that sounds insignificant, many players store hundreds of items in their Vault that they never use. Dismantle any obsolete gear to obtain hundreds of Legendary Shards.

1 Earn And Complete Exotic Catalysts

Destiny 2 10 Ways To Prepare For Season Of The Chosen

Exotic Catalysts are a great way to bolster your Exotic arsenal. Most weapons in Destiny 2 have an Exotic Catalyst that drops from a specific activity. Once obtained, you must complete a certain task before the weapon is Masterworked. Masterworked weapons provide additional stats, new perks, or even both. We have a guide detailing every Exotic Catalyst currently in Destiny 2 that you can view here.

For general Catalyst objective farming tips:

  • Combatant kills are easiest to achieve in the Shuro Chi encounter in the Last Wish raid. Start the raid, enter the Wishing Room, then punch in Shuro Chi’s code (the image above). Kill all of the enemies, die, then repeat.
  • Guardian kills, unless otherwise specified, can be achieved in any Crucible playlist. Mayhem and Rumble are two great game types that let players rack up a high kill count.
