The name of the next season of Destiny 2 confirms parts of a potential Halo crossover. Season 14 of Destiny 2 introduced many new weapons and armors, bringing back past content – namely, the Vault of Glass raid from the first Destiny. Season of the Splicer also introduced a transmog system to the game for armors and weapons. However, its implementation was not well received at launch, leading the developer to announce fixes for the Transmog system coming in the next season.

Bungie is almost ready to show the next phase of Destiny 2 with a Destiny 2 Showcase on August 24, featuring the reveal of The Witch Queen. The Witch Queen is the alias for Savathun, one of the more enigmatic entities of the Hive in the Destiny universe. Following the Witch Queen is the last planned expansion for the “Light and Darkness” arc of the series – Lightfall. Its expected release is 2023, but the ongoing pandemic may impact that timetable. It is not the first time COVID-19 delayed an expansion since the pandemic played a part in the Witch Queen’s delay until 2022. Bungie has said in the past that it has no plans to end the series anytime soon, with content planned well into 2023 and beyond.

As reported by VGC, Destiny 2’s next season, Season of the Lost, confirms parts of a leaked document posted to Reddit earlier this year by Astraliguss, following an earlier posting by a user named Extremely-Zesty. That leak said that the 15th season of Destiny would celebrate Bungie’s 30th anniversary. Halo content such as Gravity Hammers, Battle Rifles, and armor sets based on Halo would be available for Guardians to use in the game to commemorate the occasion in a crossover. The document mentions that ODST, Reach, and Arbiter will be the armor sets for the Hunter, Titan and Warlock, respectively. Two Halo-based missions are supposedly planned as well.

Other parts of the leak had already occurred when it was posted on Reddit and have spoilers regarding events that transpire in the Witch Queen. Although the document seems somewhat trustworthy, leaks and rumors should still be treated cautiously. The rest of the content listed in the leak could be way off or not happen at all. But if the document is correct, a new meta of Titan Gravity Hammers might begin soon.

Destiny 2 is still one of the more popular live service games despite complaints from players and fans. However, Bungie intends to create more experiences for the game and the franchise as a whole for the foreseeable future. If the leak is accurate and Battle Rifles are coming in Season of the Lost, who knows what other crossovers could happen in the future.
