Last week, we got to see Destiny 2 perform its first unofficial crossplay test. Unofficial because it was actually a bug that activated crossplay on PvP activities earlier than planned. PS4 players were fighting Xbox players, PC players were fighting Stadia players–it was utter chaos!

That test was brought to an abrupt end when it was patched out, but now Bungie plans to bring crossplay back with its first official test. And this time, it’ll be strictly PvE.

“While our current goal is for Crossplay to ship in Season 15, we have a list of things to do before it’s ready, one of which is a Beta starting early next week,” wrote community manager dmg04. The crossplay beta will take place from May 25 to May 27 starting next week and will be limited to just one matchmade activity: Strikes.

Starting next Tuesday, Guardians will see a new option on the Vanguard Playlist called “Crossplay Beta.” This will basically be the same as regular Vanguard Strikes, only it will have matchmaking for players across all of Destiny 2’s platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Stadia.

Sadly, this limited beta doesn’t allow for pre-made fireteams, so you won’t be able to invite your friends from other platforms. This test is just designed to see how Destiny 2’s crossplay matchmaker will work.

On the plus side, those that take part in this limited beta and complete three Strikes will receive the Star Cross emblem to show their support for crossplay.

In related news, the Vault of Glass raid will arrive this Saturday, but Hunters won’t be able to bring the brand new Star-Eater Scales Exotic boots. The reason is that players have discovered a bug that provides them with a massive boost to all weapons damage after activating their Super with all four stacks of Feast of Light. Bungie was concerned this would result in Atheon getting demolished in a single damage phase, so the boots are out until they can figure out a fix.
