Bungie has sent selected influencers a special Destiny 2 gift box featuring a cryptic message about the Season of the Splicers content from the game.

Developer Bungie has sent out special kits to content creators to celebrate the latest season of Destiny 2, which includes special items and a hidden message about the Season of the Splicer. The studio is continuing to update the first-person shooter following its release in 2017, with little to no information about what it might be working on. However, former Capcom producer Peter Fabiano, who has previously worked on games such as Resident Evil Village, has recently confirmed he is joining Bungie. This has led to speculation that he will be working on a brand new project at the developer.
As part of Bungie’s 30th anniversary, the studio is planning on revealing a free community gift on Bungie Day. This will take the form of a special emblem known as the Spicy Ramen Coupon. Dataminers uncovered the emblem shortly after it was added to the game but long before its intended reveal date of July 7, prompting the studio’s community manager to ask hackers to stop spoiling secrets and surprises for fans.
In order to help celebrate the Season of the Splicer event currently taking place in Destiny 2, Bungie has sent out a special kit containing gear and coded messages to prominent content creators. Twitter user RickKackis posted a video showing the collection, revealing that a total of 45 have been sent out. Coming in a heavy-duty case, the kit includes a pair of Koss Porta Pro headphones, a cassette tape and stylized player, a glass light display, a UV flashlight, and a cryptic message card. The UV light can be used to reveal a secret message on the card that makes reference to the story in the Season of the Splicer and asks the influencers to share it with their own communities.

The hidden message on the card reads:
“You are called upon to become Splicers to override the endless night that has befallen the Last City by destroying the Vex Network from the inside. Here is your survival kit to help endure the endless night and dive into Destiny’s latest season, Season of the Splicer. Show your community you’re ready to jump into this new season using the following hashtag #SeasonoftheSplicer. We wish you an amazing journey!”
Following criticism from fans about the overpowered nature of the Stasis subclasses in PvP multiplayer. Bungie was planning on nerfing the class as part of the Season 15 update but brought that forward to June 3 in order to try and mitigate some of the complaints made by players. Bonus damage from some powers and weapons was reduced from just 50% to 5%.
Developers and publishers sending unusual gifts and marketing materials to influencers is becoming more and more common in the industry as a way to promote new products or get the word out about upcoming content. While the content included in this Destiny 2 box is certainly interesting, there is nothing that gives any real insight into the Season of the Splicers story.
