Ever since Stasis arrived in Destiny 2: Beyond Light, the new Darkness-based subclasses have been running wild. Especially in Destiny 2’s PvP game modes, where they immediately became top-tier subclasses and have remained at the top of the heap ever since.

Bungie has issued nerf after nerf after nerf trying to bring Stasis back in line with Destiny 2’s other subclasses, but it’s never been enough. However, the upcoming round of Stasis nerfs looks harsh enough to stick.

This week’s TWAB laid out extensive changes to slow, freeze, and all three Stasis subclasses that tamp down much of what made Stasis so powerful. All non-Super freezes will soon last just 1.35 seconds while the damage bonus to frozen targets has been cut from 50% to just 5%. Being slowed by Stasis will no longer reduce accuracy, no longer suppress class abilities and air movement abilities, and will just slow the player by 20% rather than cut their movement in half.

Whisper of Rime and Whisper of Hedrons Fragments both had their power reduced, Coldsnap grenades on longer track targets after initial target acquisition, and all three subclasses had their abilities drastically tuned.

Titan Behemoths will have shorter, less impactful Shiver Strikes, slightly less damage resistance in Glacial Quake Supers, and Cryoclasm will require a short sprint before each slide. Hunter Revenants have had their Withering Blade damage, slow, and tracking greatly reduced, Winter’s Shroud slow duration cut down from 2.5 seconds to 1.5 seconds, and Touch of Winter no longer increases the movement and travel distances of Coldsnap grenades.

Warlock Shadebinder will receive the least nerfs of the three, but it didn’t escape unscathed. Both Penumbral Bast and Winter’s Wrath will have less player tracking following next week’s patch, while the Iceflare Bolts Aspect will only chain once when shattering an enemy player.

All these changes are set to arrive on Destiny 2’s June 3 patch. That gives Guardians just one more weekend to use these overpowered Stasis subclasses in the Crucible.

Also noted in this week’s blog are upcoming changes to the new Expunge mission that will reward players with high-stat seasonal armor and double-perk weapons. Expect those rewards to start coming on a weekly basis starting next week, and on June 17 Expunge will provide a Pinnacle reward.
