With Destiny 2: Shadowkeep’s launch upon us, players are eagerly waiting to jump into the adventure. Like many great games today, there is a substantial amount of lore that goes along with Shadowkeep’s story. In this case, Destiny has been developing its world for over five years, and one passionate YouTube content creator has compiled everything fans need to know into a single informative video.

My name is Byf, also known as Lore Daddy, is a great source for learning about the lore of certain games, such as Destiny, Warframe, Dishonored, Monster Hunter World, and more. On his channel, you can find all kinds of videos about the fictional universes inhabited by our favorite characters. These videos are a great way to learn all about the complex stories that these games delve into, especially if you’re only now trying a game out for the first time.

The video is filled with detail and nearly four hours long. Byf recently spoke with Paul Tassi at Forbes to provide more context about the process of making such descriptive videos. It takes two months to produce the video with a three-man team, and more to create the necessary art and to write and edit the script, which came in at 28,500 words. After that, it takes about four days to record and ten days to edit.

When asked about how this project differed from past videos, Byf said that the goal was to coincide with Bungie’s New Light game mode, which will release alongside Shadowkeep. This is a free-to-play version of the game that has an enormous amount of content.

To help new and existing players along, Byfe says that they wanted to, “Create a complete start to finish timeline, fill in at least a few gaps in our knowledge or correct previous misconceptions and finally make a resource for new players that would be ready for the launch of Destiny’s free-to-play edition. I wanted to support the studio’s decision and to help ease people into the game.”

The video is helpful to new and existing players to Destiny and we’re sure that it’s probably one of the first projects Byf is going to make as Bungie adds more and more to the game. Bungie also released a video leading up to the release of Shadowkeep, in which it discussed its desire to make a continuous story over the next five years.

Destiny 2 is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and in November for the Google Stadia.
