Lucid Games, developer of the freshly launched, PlayStation 5 exclusive title Destruction AllStars, want players to go into its chaotic car competition armed – with knowledge. Destruction AllStars is an over-the-top action game that centers around vehicular destruction. Players choose a driver, one of the titular AllStars, with unique skills and a car built for demolition before setting off to decimate the competition. Just before launch, some of the game’s sixteen characters got a wildly colorful trailer to help players figure out which AllStar to pick, and now Lucid Games wants to give out tips on how to win.
Officially unveiled at the PlayStation 5 reveal event, Destruction AllStars was slated to release alongside Sony’s next-gen console. The plans for the launch title were changed soon after, however, when it became clear to the creators that the game would not be ready by November. The announcement of the game’s delay left the PlayStation 5 launch with almost no exclusive titles to boast of and prompted some major changes for the title. Though Destruction AllStars was originally intended to be a full-price, next-gen title, the team behind the game pivoted after the delay news, announcing that the car combat game would instead debut on PlayStation Plus.
After a twisting road, Destruction AllStars released on PlayStation Plus today and the development team dropped some helpful hints about the game on the PlayStation Blog. According to the community manager at Lucid Games, the first thing players need to know is simple: don’t get too attached to the cars. Destruction AllStars is a competitive game where the goal is to destroy rivals’ rides, and no one will come out without a scratch. However, the post assures players that multiple cars will be available in the chaotic arena and even the hero’s unique vehicle can be recalled if it gets too damaged.
Surprisingly, the second tip is about getting out of the car. Even though the action centers around destructive vehicles, the arena will have places for players who find themselves on foot and are looking for a safe space to strategize. You might even be able to spot shards around the room which will help charge up special abilities. If players need a new car, the post advises dodging attacks rather than jumping. Dodging at just the right time can allow for the character to jump on top of the rival car and take it over – or destroy it. The last section details some of the game’s different modes, including practice mode and a challenge series. The latter will dive into characters’ stories and offer single-player tasks.
Though it is only day one for Destruction AllStars, the team already has a lot of content planned out for the future. It is a great time to jump into this game, especially for PlayStation Plus members who get it for free this month.
