If quick-witted dialogue and exploding blue penguins sound like the perfect balance, then Disgaea may be the game for you. Disgaea 4’s second rerelease, Disgaea 4 Complete+, has taken its place within the PS4 and Nintendo Switch catalogue, and now it’s time for the rebels to invade Steam and Xbox Game Pass.

In a recent blog post, developers Nippon Ichi Software revealed that the Beta for Disgaea 4 Complete+ would be arriving on Steam and Xbox Game Pass for PC this fall. The devs also wrote that a whole hub town full of special network features would also be coming post-launch. An energetic trailer accompanied the PC port announcement, featuring Disgaea’s catchy theme and giving us a preview of the charming characters in combat. Vampire Valvatorez and his faithful companion Fenrich raise some HL (Disgaea currency) in the trailer’s gameplay, interacting with the game’s vast roster of allies along the way.

NIS’s blog post also highlighted some of the upcoming features for players to look forward to. Themed Ranking Battles will allow players to compete and enter their score into the game’s ranking boards. Ranking Points will then be given to participants who can spend them at the Ranking Shop. Users can receive more rewards from Pirate Trials and upload pirates into the Item World to be used in attack or defense. Foreign Ministers can be interjected into other players’ Dark Assemblies that will influence voting, and Defense Ministers can be summoned to aid other players in battle.

The Netherbattle Tournament will be home to four classes that players can use to create battle parties with their own/other characters to compete in various online stages. An exciting feature that caught the eye of Disgaea fans was the Map Editor, that will allow users to essentially build their own map. By rearranging terrain, characters, and objects, players can construct their own environments and even visit the maps of others – available to users early next year. Dubbed as the “kings of strategy RPG”, Nippon Ichi are thrilled to be able to stretch Disgaea’s fan base to include PC users and invite more gamers into the Netherworld.
