Boy meets girl, girl tries to run away from boy, boy releases girl from captivity, and girl comes back. Also throw in some side notes about magic furniture. It’s a tale as old as time. Beauty and the Beast is one of the most beloved of Disney’s renaissance period, as well as one of the highest grossing films between the original classic and the recent remake. It is also one of Disney’s first times to have a solely credited female screenwriter. How’s that for progression? There are so many characters to fall in love with that the internet is wild with sweet and funny pictures of the group. Each one was fleshed out incredibly well in the movie that there is a lot of material to work with. Because they also come with your nostalgia intact, fan comics based on the movie have an extra punch.
Belle was one of my favorite princesses growing up, because I related so much to her. She was down to earth and stubborn, like me. While I don’t buy the whole Stockholm Syndrome aspect, I will admit to many other quirks in each of the characters that are used to poke fun in the comics. Between Belle’s bookish tendencies, Gaston’s ego, and Beast’s lack of social know-how, artists everywhere have found bits of humor that will make any Beauty and the Beast fan crack a smile. Here we found 25 of the sweetest (and sometimes funny at one character’s expense) comics on the internet.
25 A Different Kind Of ‘Curl Up’
Disney didn’t give me unrealistic expectations in men. They gave me unrealistic expectations for my hair. Seriously, every Disney female has incredible hair, unless it’s being used for a sight gag. Fun fact: animators studied astronauts in space for Ariel’s hair movements!
Unlike a mermaid who never has to deal with humidity, poor Belle is stuck trying to tame her curly hair without the use of products and irons. Here’s to hoping for the best! At least she’s got a helpful guide to study from.

24 Time Flies On Eagle’s Wings
A fitting line for a man turned into a clock. I like to imagine that this is a line used by Cogsworth quite often, whenever he ends up being late to something or decides he needs to leave to escape something unpleasant.
Cogsworth may not have the emotional pull that Gandalf does, but they’d make quite the pair. I can imagine it now. Although, to be fair, Gandalf would probably be the one pulling most of the weight between the two.

23 A Thoughtful Gift?
I wish I could read the name on the corner of the picture and credit whoever made this cute comic. While the bimbettes (yes, that’s how they’re referred to. Who’s the real bad guy here?) were nearly conjoined with Gaston, it’s cute to see them reaching out and inviting Belle to join them in their way of life.
They even take Belle’s favorite color into account.
They might not have been evil before, and they certainly aren’t now. Could you imagine Belle hanging out with them for a day?
22 You’re Not Allergic, Right?
Amy Mebberson once again creates a cute slice of life imagining of something Belle must have dealt with quite often, although the movie never addresses: Beast’s loose fur. With the changing of the seasons, some of the animals Beast is based on grow a thicker fur. In the springtime, they shed like crazy to prepare for the heat. It’s only natural to assume the same happens to Beast. My question is what they do with all of it?

21 Now In Living Color
I love these kinds of pictures. Belle and company seem to have started the tradition, as you can see one similar for the Aladdin cast and the princess voice actresses for Wreck-It Ralph 2. Not only is it a cute way to help you recognize who is who, but also a sweet memento of the time actually making the movie. Beauty and the Beast is a time-honored classic and should be treated as such. By creating sweet memories, the actors and crew are adding to the memories and stories from the original.
20 The Actual Villain
If the sorceress is willing to put a curse on an 11-year-old and his entire staff, who’s to say she wouldn’t have a little talent for irony? No clue if she did it on purpose or not, but it certainly is sweet that she took their pet names into account. Perhaps it was a way to help everyone in the castle remember feelings of love in order to help the Beast. Either way, with as little development as she got, it will be a mystery forever.

19 Baby Faced Beast
I’m sure this was inspired by one of the last lines in the remake. There we hear Belle suggest that Beast grow a beard to help in the transition as well as for a new look. Gotta give Belle a break. Her significant other went from having every last inch of him covered in hair to a baby face in a couple of minutes. The shock of the change of style is bound to take a little bit to get used to.

18 That’s Just Rude
Beast here doesn’t look too happy, but Belle is able to get what she needs, so at least someone is happy with the arrangement. Gigei on DeviantArt gives us a cute idea of one of the ways Belle and Beast spend time together. Why bother getting a ladder when you have someone who’s the right height next to you? At least they’re getting along, which is the important thing. This picture was a cute way to see some of the ways Belle and Beast interact in between stories.

17 This Should Have Been In The Movie
With a heavy overtone of the Reylo ship in The Last Jedi, it was only a matter of time before something like this picture was going to be drawn. Unfortunately I don’t know the creator, but I found it here.
Make Sure To Tip
I love Rey’s expression as her once daunting captor almost turns into a complete nerd. Their entire relationship screams Beauty and the Beast, so the combination of characters and song is perfect. Extra points for the Stormtrooper waiters. I’d eat at a place where my waiters were dressed as storm troopers.

16 Get That Girl A Library
Taken straight from the movie, this is one of those jokes that went over my head as a kid. Now that I’m older and married, it cracks me up and makes me feel sappy at the same time. On one hand, it’s funny because there are plenty of partners out there who make promises that don’t get kept. On the other hand, it’s sweet because Beast glosses over the ill advice and goes straight for something that he knows Belle will absolutely love. Beast putting her wants first really helps you see the relationship moving along.
15 Run, Jacob!
This is quite possibly one of the best things to happen to the Twilight franchise. Could you imagine how differently the second movie would have been if Bella had kept this mentality? My guess is that there wouldn’t be much more fighting between the werewolves and vampires after that, and what’s even better is there most likely wouldn’t have been a third or fourth installment. Jacob would have been long gone, and we would have let the series die off. Perhaps in a parallel universe.

14 Down Memory Lane
It’s a touch out of the century, but still a fun picture. Prince Adam clearly loves Belle and will do some crazy things for her. Admittedly, it’s not as cute this time because Adam isn’t quite as playful as he was when it happened in the movie.
We’d love to see some of the other photos taken on Belle’s camera.

13 It Could Work
Made more famous by McGregor’s predecessor, James Arnold Taylor, ‘use the force’ is heard all around the world on May 4th, Star Wars day. Having Lumiere say this line to Beast reminds us of Taylor and is a helpful reminder for Beast in order to be on his best behavior for Belle. It was Lumiere who originally urged Beast to be kind to Belle in hopes of falling in love, so Beast can stand a few grievances here and there, right?

12 A Short List
Given that Belle had a less-than-billion-dollar upbringing, it’s logical to say she knows very well how to run a house.
That includes organizing any and all books she has in her collection.
When she gets the library from the Beast, it’s only a short leap of logic to say she’d go through what she could and organize them. Amy Mebberson gives an adorable look as to how Belle would do it! Good luck getting through all of those books.

11 Diff’rent Strokes
I love this collection of what it might be like when the Disney princesses all live together. If you haven’t seen them before, you should totally check them out here. Each princess has their own unique background and list of quirks. Belle particularly in this one has a thing for foot cleanliness. Go figure. We’ve all been wondering what day to day life might be for these pocket princesses is like and now we’ve got our answer. It’s a real ball!

10 The Perks Of Magic
Given that the time period is all wrong for football, this charming comic drawn by swashbookler on DeviantArt is an entertaining look as to how Beast might have spent most of his days.
He had to have learned about the outside world.
It explains a lot, actually, as any lesson from an episode of something like say, Mythbusters, would be useless when it comes to social mannerisms. Given that Beast already had it on football means he’s probably into sports like that. Go, team!

9 Morality At Its Finest
Once again, Valeniefantartist strikes again. This time, they bring one of Ewan McGregor’s most iconic lines to light in the mouth of Lumiere. It’s almost a little ironic this time though, as instead of playing a straight-laced teacher who has a penchant for one-liners, McGregor plays a mischievous charmer who sets up the joke. The one-liners belong to Cogsworth, and are executed quite nicely in both versions of the film. The setting brings on a different meaning to it, although there is still a feeling of ‘I told you so.’
8 Warn Me Next Time
If there’s anything worse than a spoiler to a well-loved book, I can’t think of it off the top of my head, especially for a bibliophile like Belle. Bibliophile here meaning, “one who reads far too much Romeo and Juliet and should move on to something lighter”. I guess it’s impossible to have spoilers in a book you’ve already read? Being in an enchanted castle does beg the question what stories other appliances and furniture pieces can tell. It’s already been done with Belle’s Enchanted Christmas though, so let’s save any others for fanfictions.

7 Fly, You Fools!
If there’s anything the internet loves, it’s mixing up characters played by a particular actor. Valeniefantartist on Tumblr has some very good examples of this, many of which have made the list.
Knowing that Obi-Wan and Gandalf played Lumiere and Cogsworth respectively, it’s hard not to smile at the idea of either of those two characters in the situation of being turned to furniture. We get a kick out of these famous lines being turned on their heads. Try not to smile, we dare you!

6 We’re All In This Together
If there’s one thing recent Disney movies like Enchanted or The Muppet Movie has taught us, it’s that complicated opening numbers require patience and practice. More of a satire on the whole song and dance routine than anything, this comic reminds us that somewhere people are so bored that they’ll come up with a routine to remind the odd girl out how strange she is. That’s got to be a different level of first world problems that I doubt I will ever see.
