Two of Disney’s greatest ever movies are Peter Pan and Robin Hood and a lot of that is down to the titular characters. They are both all about helping others and have no problems going up against authority or villains who have more power and wealth than them.

That’s why they’re considered to be amongst Disney’s greatest ever heroes. But when it comes to a battle between them, it isn’t easy to determine which character is the greater hero. This list will attempt to do just that, presenting five reasons why Robin Hood is better and five why Peter Pan is the superior hero.

10 Robin Hood: He’s Kinder

While heroes aren’t typically grumpy people, Peter Pan is quite a young soul who has never grown up or really learned manners; consequently, he quite often ends up insulting his friends. He does various things throughout the movie that clearly upset others, be it Tinkerbell or Wendy.

However, the same cannot be said for Robin Hood. He never offends anybody and constantly tries to work hard to help others. Even if he can’t give them money, he does his best to raise spirits and that’s simply down to his kind nature.

9 Peter Pan: His Swordfighting Skills

Any classic Disney hero has to overcome some odds and normally a big battle against the villain of their film. That is no different for Peter Pan, whose battles with Captain hook clearly show just how talented he is at sword fighting.

Despite the fact he only uses a small dagger, Pan is incredibly effective with the weapon. He is able to compete against a skilled pirate and save those who cannot save themselves, showcasing how great he is in the process.

8 Robin Hood: Archery

Robin Hood works as Disney’s (animated) Hawkeye; while he might be able to use a sword if he needs to, his weapon of choice is the classic bow and arrow. Hood uses the weapon with incredible accuracy when needed and that is something that really makes him stand out.

As very few characters use a bow, Robin Hood feels unique as he is able to not only use the weapon in competitions but also in fights. For those who prefer something different from a sword, Robin Hood provides exactly that.

7 Peter Pan: He Cares For Others

While Peter Pan can be a little blunt and rude at times, there’s no doubt that he is a caring individual. He may not have any idea about how to actually look after people, but he does his very best by the Lost Boys. He tries to provide them with a mother with Wendy and wants the best for them.

Pan does the same with Tinkerbell, who he clearly loves deeply. The fact he cares for and tries to protect so many people shows Pan’s heroic nature.

6 Robin Hood: More Mature

When it comes to these two characters, in particular, it is Robin Hood who is more mature. This allows him to make more educated decisions out of the two characters, as he thinks things through a little more and acts far smarter throughout his movie than Pan’s.

Even though Robin Hood’s plans and schemes do not always work, for the most part, they do, and that is something that works in his favor. Being slightly more mature also allows Robin Hood to be less likely to snap at others, which Pan sometimes does.

5 Peter Pan: More Fun

In total contrast to the previous point about Robin Hood, the reason that he’s more mature than Peter Pan is that the latter is far more fun. He takes very few things seriously and while that can occasionally be to his downfall, it does make Pan’s personality enjoyable.

Pan just has endless energy and always wants to be on the go and that’s what makes him such a fun character to watch. Sure, he’s a little immature, but Pan is clearly a joy to be around, which is why so many people love him.

4 Robin Hood: More Creative

One of the reasons that Robin Hood is such a great character is his creativity. It isn’t always easy to rob the rich but he manages it on a consistent basis by thinking outside of the box and making plans that fool others.

Whether it be dressing up as fortune-tellers or as a totally different character in order to enter the archery tournament, Robin Hood always manages to create amazing plans. His inventive imagination is one reason he is such a great hero.

3 Peter Pan: He Can Fly

When it comes to amazing heroes, amazing skills are crucial to help someone stand out, and Peter Pan certainly has that with his ability to fly. It’s something that suits his playful nature and he creates magical moments for other people when he brings them along for the journey.

Being able to show stunning views of Neverland and London, Peter Pan’s ability to fly does give him a slight edge over Robin Hood. There’s something overwhelmingly cool about a character who can fly, which is likened to superheroes.

2 Robin Hood: Helps The Poor

The main reason Robin Hood is arguably a better hero than Peter Pan is because of his morality and the fact that everything he does is in order to help those less fortunate. The balance of rich and poor in 1973’s film isn’t fair, and while Robin does rob people, he only does it to help others.

Robin Hood helps more people within his movie than Peter Pan does in his film. Robin Hood’s entire purpose in life is to help other people to ensure they have enough money to survive, and that is as heroic as it gets.

1 Peter Pan: He Keeps Imagination Alive

While Peter Pan is often talked about a lot because he can fly and is a great swordsman, the main reason he is a great character is because of the joy he brings to others. He is the boy who never grows up and, by extension, he helps keep others around him young.

Characters such as Wendy are able to develop amazing imaginations and grow fun personalities because of what Pan brings to their lives. Heroes should always inspire people and that is exactly what Peter Pan does, which is why he’s the best.
